NSW Cup Review: Your team’s rising stars to watch in 2025… and who can take the leap to the NRL

Canberra Raiders

Where they finished: P3 14-8-2 record FINALS - ELIMINATED WEEK 3 BY NEWTOWN

Canberra were consistently one of the best sides of the 2024 NSW Cup season. They boasted amazing outside back talent while a plethora of talented young forwards were consistently pushing for first-grade selection. Brock Sheppard put behind a late start to his off-season and began implementing changes to get Canberra beyond their week 2 exit last season. An end-of-year skid as well as letting a 21-6 lead slip against the Roosters cost the Raiders the minor premiership, but third place was a great reward for a strong season.

Canberra’s heavy pathway investment enabled the club to debut talented hooker Owen Pattie (Jersey Flegg Player of the Year) and outside backs Josh Billing and Atini Tuialii. With the club winning the minor premiership in Jersey Flegg (NSW U21’s) this season, the Raiders will be in a good spot for 2025 and beyond.

Good luck to him, he was a hard worker but didn’t think he was going to make the NRL at the Raiders.

Looks like Luke Webley is training with the Bunnies.

They cleaned up the NSW cup profiles on the Raiders site as well. It looks like maybe the Skipps brothers, Lavender, Afamasaga, Uta, and Taylor Withington are the likely Flegg graduates, aside from the ones we know about already.
