6th min TRY PAPUA NEW GUINEA to winger Elijah Roltinga in the corner. It is off the back of a penalty and a set restart. Del Wigmore made a good run early, but lost the ball in the tackle.

Kumuls 4-0

28th min TRY COOK ISLANDS to Steven Marsters in the corner and he converts his own try. It follows a penalty goal to Marsters in the 18th minute. This is shaping as an upset...

Cook Islands 14-4

The Kumuls' Sylvester Namo is in the bin.

32nd min TRY PAPUA NEW GUINEA to Nene Macdonald. He just goes from dummy half. A hand is under the ball, but the ball has to have been grounded. The crowd is given a bit of a boost, they've been very quiet. Converted Kyle Laybutt.

36th min TRY PAPUA NEW GUINEA to Lachlan Lam. The Kumuls have woken up, but that really was an individual try. Steps to get the break and then steps again to avoid the defence. Converted Laybutt.

47th min TRY PAPUA NEW GUINEA to Sylvester Namo, just reaches out and plants it on the line. The Kumuls have switched on. Converted. Have to feel for the Cook Islands, after they did so well in the first half.

49th min SIN BIN for Zane Tetevano of the Cook Islands. Frankly, it is hard to see why there is even a penalty. Just a good, hard, front on tackle.

58th min TRY PAPUA NEW GUINEA to Nene Macdonald. There was a lot of space out wide for Elijah Roltinga and he passes back inside to set up the try. Points flowing freely now for the Kumuls. Tetevano comes back on, but there have been a lot of points conceded while he's been off the field. No conversion.

Kumuls 38-14

2024 Pacific Championships Final

The National Rugby League (NRL) has today confirmed the fixture for the 2024 Pacific Championships Final, with four back-to-back matches to be played at Western Sydney Stadium in Sydney next Sunday (November 10).

The blockbuster quadruple-header will bring together fans from right across the Pacific region with Australia, Tonga, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Samoa all set to feature in the biggest day of international Rugby League ever staged on Australian soil.

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said the stage is set for an historic day of international Rugby League.

“The Pacific Championships is becoming the biggest international sporting event in the region," Mr Abdo said.

“The Final next Sunday not only features four high stakes Test matches, but it will be a celebration of Pacific culture, bringing together fans from five different nations to create a festival atmosphere that has never been seen before in our game.

“It is the perfect opportunity for fans to experience something entirely new as well as seeing the best players in our game representing their country on the international stage,” said Abdo.

After their stunning one-point victory over the Kiwis in Auckland, Tonga will play for the ultimate prize when they meet Mal Meninga’s undefeated Kangaroos in the Men’s Pacific Cup Final at 4:05pm AEDT.

The Kangaroos progressed to the Final after wins over Tonga (18-0) and defending champions New Zealand (22-10) in the round robin stage, while Tonga’s incredible one-point upset over the Kiwis has them on the verge of history.

The Women’s Pacific Cup Final will see a rematch of the 2023 decider, with the Jillaroos hoping to turn the tables on their rivals the New Zealand Kiwi Ferns at 1:50pm AEDT.

The Jillaroos won through to the Final without conceding a point in the round robin stage with an 84-0 defeat of PNG before a hard fought 14-0 win over New Zealand. The Kiwi Ferns joined them in the decider with a 36-0 defeat of the PNG Orchids in Port Moresby today.

The quadruple-header will also feature crucial Men’s and Women’s Promotion-Relegation Playoffs, with the winners to play in the Pacific Cup in 2025.

Tickets start at just $25 for adults and $50 for families and are available now via nrl.com/tickets

All four matches will be broadcast live on the Nine Network, Fox League, Kayo Sports, 9NOW and Sky NZ.
