Re: The run home
Realised that after the next two games (which we will not be favourites in), our last 6 games are all against teams in the top 9.
We are kind of boned aren’t we.

Indeed. I called it weeks ago. 4 straight losses later....Mickey_Raider wrote: ↑July 18, 2024, 9:47 am Realised that after the next two games (which we will not be favourites in), our last 6 games are all against teams in the top 9.

One game in to the run home and we have a win. Ugly, but a win. The flame of hope flickers in the hearts of the lime green faithful.

But we had the “very very good” Danny Levi steering the ship all year? Why no finals?

Re: The run home
We were in contention till we started Wolf and Starling and then the wheels fell off our season. But it’s what everyone called for all year so… enjoy it I guess. Personally I preferred it when Levi was starting and we were a top 8 team but each to their own I guess.

He's got you there, Finchy.
Re: The run home
Indeed. Our losses are all on Woolford’s half a game and Starling. We’d be much better with Levi playing 80. What was I thinking?

Re: The run home
I realise HKR is being facetious like me, but I was actually curious about their win rates.
Levi - 27% in firsts, 44% in reserves.
Woolford - 61.5% in firsts, 50.5% in reserves.
Clearly we need more of Danny Levi, the stats are clear on that.

Cheer up digger - Woolf got a start and Starlo is wearing the 9 - it’s everything you’ve been wanting so sit back and enjoy it. Sure we used to be in the 8 sitting pretty but it’s Woolf and Starling and if Puru joins the party we will be unbackable favourites for a premiership

Ricky’s mission impossible revealed
CANBERRA RAIDERS (24 points, -71)
Predicted finish: 10th
Chance of finishing top eight: 22.9%
Chance of finishing top four: 0.6%
Chance of winning minor premiership: 0.0%
Remaining games: Bulldogs (A), Manly (H), Cowboys (A), Panthers (H), Roosters (A), Dragons (A)
In good news for Canberra, the return of Jamal Fogarty has coincided with a turnaround in fortunes as the side has won both his games back from injury. In bad news, their run home is just about the hardest in the competition. Five of their six games are against sides inside the top eight, including two against Penrith and the Roosters - two competition heavyweights. Canberra have the talent to make a late finals push. Whether they do so or not is a whole different story.

Re: The run home
The loss to Newcastle was the one winnable game that really got away from us. I think that could be the difference between making the finals or not.
This thread is a bit doom and gloom, but the key for me this year is now getting experience under the belt for the likes of Strange, Weekes, Savage, Mariota, Moonie and Smithies. They've all been given a real shot of cementing a FG spot. Transitioning away from Levi, Rapana and Whitehead also helps.
A 7-12 placed finish is where this current squad is at. Our fortunes rely on Fog's kicking game a bit too much, however it is such a critical aspect of the game these days. Statistically our attack this year is 7.5 ppg better when Fog is in the team.
The key for me is continuing to improve our defence. Any genuine contender needs to have a top 4 quality defence in the big games.

Defence AND attack both need a lot of work over the off season IMOSeiffert82 wrote:The loss to Newcastle was the one winnable game that really got away from us. I think that could be the difference between making the finals or not.

We need to work towards being a well-drilled attacking structure with players off the ball running lines and creating options for our playmakers, and we need to practice these structures to the extent that players can plug and play and the whole thing doesn’t fall apart with one or two injuries
We can’t just continue to rely on everybody going out there and doing their best
Re: The run home
I think getting towelled up by the triple spoon Tigers is where we lost it for this year. We should have won the Knights game no doubt, but that Tigers game was an absolute disgraceSeiffert82 wrote: ↑July 31, 2024, 8:21 am The loss to Newcastle was the one winnable game that really got away from us. I may be mistaken, but rumour has it Coastal thinks Nickman has “nailed it”. Can anyone confirm?

Re: The run home
Sure was. Happened right in front of me too. The best thing to come out of that game was it was effectively the end of the Rapana at fullback experiment.Finchy wrote:I think getting towelled up by the triple spoon Tigers is where we lost it for this year. There have been many terrible performances this season. The Knights one was just the game we were in a position to win without Fogarty, but didn't.

Sure. That's the aim. There's a stack of new young players in the mix and hopefully Horsburgh is fit.The Nickman wrote:Defence AND attack both need a lot of work over the off season IMOSeiffert82 wrote:The loss to Newcastle was the one winnable game that really got away from us. I'm hoping and expecting to see a more up-tempo style but I appreciate nobody thinks that will happen.

Two games in to the run home and 2 wins. This 2nd game against Souths more impressive than the first win. Fog steering the ship well, but the team still need to improve the Defensive effort. Big game this week against the fast improving Dogs. Good luck to Papa in his 300th match for the Raiders.Billy Walker wrote: ↑July 22, 2024, 2:23 pmI hate to break it to you Red, but the only way you’ll have green sausages this year is if you set a couple aside in the sun.

Yep - a lot to like about the bunnies win. There is no doubt we are extremely good at scraping into an 8, but I’d still be nervous about forking out for week 1 final tickets at this point.RedRaider wrote: ↑August 1, 2024, 7:53 amTwo games in to the run home and 2 wins.
