Are they making a Mad Max sequel? Might bring back the old legend Mel for a run.

Re: The Film Thread
They are great films. The ones with Mad Max that I've seen at least. Can't speak for the new ones that dont have Mad Max in em.
I rewatch Road Warrior at least once a Year.

For what reason would you not see films soley on the basis that they dont have Mad Max in them?
He's not THAT compelling as a character that the universe cant exist without him
I've seen them all and honestly Fury Road the best of them. Furisosa isnt quite on that level. But it's better than at least 2 of the Mad Max films

I love Mad Max 2, probably based on cars and it was filmed locally at Stockton Beach where I'd spent a big chunk of my youth.Botman wrote:For what reason would you not see films soley on the basis that they dont have Mad Max in them?

Fury road I loved mainly because of Furiosa, Prequels are always a bit awkward due to characters having to survive/develop or whatnot as you know their endpoint.

When Bubba died in Forrest Gump I stopped watching, because he was that good of a character and I refused to watch the rest knowing he wasn’t going to be in it any more.Botman wrote: ↑July 8, 2024, 10:19 pm For what reason would you not see films soley on the basis that they dont have Mad Max in them?

My basic logic is, a mad max movie without mad max isn't enough to compel me to fork over 30bucks for tickets and popcorn. I might wait for it to pop up on 7flix, but no one should hold their breath.
Overall, I prefer the original incarnation (Tom Hardy wasn't that bad either) of a less talk, more action stoic hero - trying to survive in a barren wasteland while doing some good along the way after all the bad **** that happened to him. If that's not for you, no worries

Bubba wasn't the main character in Forrest Gump though. Did you even watch the movie?Begbie wrote: ↑July 9, 2024, 6:11 amWhen Bubba died in Forrest Gump I stopped watching, because he was that good of a character and I refused to watch the rest knowing he wasn’t going to be in it any more.Botman wrote: ↑July 8, 2024, 10:19 pm For what reason would you not see films soley on the basis that they dont have Mad Max in them?

Yeah, that's the problem with prequels aye - you know where theyre going to end up. Apart from Maybe Star Wars prequel trilogy, I can't remember there being too much hype over prequels, especially for a supporting character. Although I might pay money to see a Les Grossman prequel

Re: The Film Thread
I went to see Gladiator 2 this morning. I was pleasantly surprised by the story the film told. The original Gladiator has been on TV twice this week on different stations and it would be worth having another look at that to refresh your mind on the original. The movie starts a little slow but soon cranks up to set the baseline for the story line.
Imo the new Gladiator Paul Mescal, is not as good an actor as Russell Crowe was in bringing the original Gladiator to life. But there are some very good performances from Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Denzel Washington and Connie Nielsen. The movie runs for more than 2 hours, but I liked the story and twists that unfold. A number of questions left over from the first movie are answered in Gladiator 2.

I'm not a huge Christmas movie fan but this movie was enjoyable.
I didn't fall asleep which is the true indicator that a movie is enjoyable.
Re: The Film Thread
I took Sid’s advice to watch, saw it yesterday. Seemed a bit similar in style to “Boy swallows universe”, but nowhere near as good. Average at best for mine.LimeGreenMachine wrote: ↑December 24, 2024, 8:41 amI'm not a huge Christmas movie fan but this movie was enjoyable.

Re: The Film Thread
I went to watch Mufasa, good entertainment but seriously crap cinema.
It's 2024, Event cinemas VMax that i was in and their newest in my area, has no recliners and the screen wasn't big enough for the space, sound was a let down.
It's nearly 2025 and at over $20- a ticket i expect a fair bit more.
