Re: 2024 Round 9 v Sea Eagles: Game Day
Nah.
It's a narrative amongst a few outspoken people that were disproved tonight
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Crotic, whitehead, strange, savage, young better game in patches, but all performed well, weekes needs goal kicking practice if he needs tat in the tight games..
Canberra Raiders supporter though thick and thin from the very beginning.

That should have been a penalty to Manly in front of the sticks.Makaveli wrote: ↑May 3, 2024, 7:53 pmIf ever there was a case for voluntary tackle that was it. Massive shoutout to Kaeo Weekes - he was massive for us tonight. Only one bad kick and he turned it into a forced dropout - stuck to his strengths after an early error and was critical in getting the victory.
Against his former team too! What a team song this will be.

100% - it was shocking both ways. Was making it impossible for the defensive team to win back momentum. Glad we were on the winning team in the end but he was woeful.Hong Kong Raider wrote: ↑May 3, 2024, 7:52 pm I was worried Atkins would give a penalty for the voluntary tackle. He's a disgrace. First Half = Guler. Second Half = Mooney. Clear difference in performance comparison between those two front rowers. Just saying.

Hahahaha apparently when we were losing it’s because of the players aren’t as good as Manly, but when we’ve won playing absolutely adlib, poorly structured football, it’s because he’s a good coachDr Zaius wrote:We didn't win from coaching, I'll give you the tip.dubby wrote:Nah.

Best thing about that half was dubby disappeared somewhere, but he slunk back in right on fulltime

Young was great , Starling came on and change the energy. Whitehead was there to score 2 tries and set one up.
Our defence in the 2nd half was strong and the ref stopped giving them a leg up every set

Winning a game with a big play is what Hudson Young used to do quite regularly

Well it **** worked. They dragged these pricks into the mud and slop and beat em with expeirence. Hats off to emBotman wrote: ↑May 3, 2024, 7:03 pmI can’t even be critical of itgangrenous wrote: ↑May 3, 2024, 7:01 pmAgree with the pig. Rule 72. I don’t understand why some hip drops are a sin bin and others that appear the same are not
But we’ve been **** pests in the ruck all game. Pushing it to the very limits trying to slop this game up and keep it tight
We’ve earned most the penalties given against us imo
It’s almost certainly the plan going in and I think it’s the right plan!
Our best bet to win this is an ugly, slow, sloppy game and the refs let the ruck get silly. Maybe we’ll wear the refs down in the 2nd 40 here and limit the scoreboard damage
My wife just compared me to the guy in National Lampoons when he breaks out the chainsaw because i am cackling like a loonThe Nickman wrote: ↑May 3, 2024, 7:58 pm I genuinely don’t remember laughing as much in a game of football, my wife thought I was mad

I will never understand players doing stupid **** like this. Or pushing it with ultra ultra slow play. Re: 2024 Round 9 v Sea Eagles: Game Day
Strange and Weekes have something. Both are not game managers, but love their confidence. Both backed themselves and can play off the cuff. Love what Timoko provides
Mooney was physical and had his best game this year. Need to get him more angry. Much better than what Guler and Saulo provide
Kudos to Whitehead and Cotric. Both had good games

Re: 2024 Round 9 v Sea Eagles: Game Day
Hahahaha dubby spent the whole first half telling all and sundry that the players just weren’t good enough and they could never compete with the likes of Manly, then he slinked off somewhere for the second half and then came strutting back in at fulltime like he was right all alongDr Zaius wrote:It was dumb luck.dubby wrote:Tactics aside?Dr Zaius wrote: ↑May 3, 2024, 7:54 pmWe didn't win from coaching, I'll give you the tip.dubby wrote:Nah.

Re: 2024 Round 9 v Sea Eagles: Game Day
actually, I thought that was one of the rules changed this year. You could do a voluntary tackle, and even if nobody laid a hand on you, it wasn't a penalty.Bluesbrother wrote: ↑May 3, 2024, 7:56 pm100% - it was shocking both ways. Interestingly he was giving Manly time after the "tackle" - not sure what for though....

The best thing about this game is the confidence boost that Weekes and Strange will take out of it.
