Raiders Review with Blake and The Pork

Post by gangrenous »

Heather, put me down for death-riding Souths.

Not so much because I want Jack to fail. Bit moreso because I want a team who made a suss signing to have it blow up in their face.

I am very glad they did though. They went against the old adage and interrupted the Raiders while they were making a mistake in offering Jack stupid money.

And no I don’t want to sign Fifita. Because of the circus. Too destabilising. Not worth it.

Jack Wighton can enjoy his time at the Rabbitohs as far as I’m concerned.

Matt…it’s a 20M line in league not a 22 :)

I swear Tim Gavel still calls “midway half and 22…” then you hear the crowd roar “… and he’s scored right under the posts!”
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

He's away, he will score...

.. as he's just crossing half way to inevitably get run down 10 out

It was always referred to as the '22' when I a kid.

Maybe it was because 22 yards is equal to 20 metres?

Yes, that was also pretty common.

22 yards. 20 metres. Take your pick.

It used to be the 25 yard line. Back then there was only half way and “quarter” way lines. There were markings for the kick off distance and distance from the sidelines for scrums and taps. Each half was up to 55 yards long. Then the 25 became the 22 when metric system was introduced in Australia. Then the 5 metre off side rule was extended to 10 metres, and sometime after that it changed so there were grids every 10 metres.

That’s my recollection of it too.

Image that sounds so bizarre phrased like that

I presume that’s because they kept the length of the field imperial so the line marker at 25 ft was renamed 22m?

Weird to change the naming of the lines, but not length of the field?

It’s Rugby League. Don’t expect logic.

The field became measured in metres, but effectively, they did not change the size of the field. 110 yard field translated to a 100 metre field.

Completely agree with Matt on reasons to be cheerful.

Like Matt I watched the game knowing the score, and I had the same rose coloured viewing of it. Taking away the anxiety of not scoring, you could see that 99% of things were there, and just didn’t tick across to 100% and get the points. I thought the team played well and dominated.

Here’s hoping we can get the Donkeys at home!

Haven’t seen the game but the eye test website said based on team stats that game expected scoreline should have been about 32-8 to us

Taking into account the well publicised spoiling tactics and how poorly we’ve handled that in the past I can see the reason to be happy for the win and agree that this sort of win is just as valuable as learning opportunity as the eels game

There is a lot to be excited for this year, and much of it is what we’ve been asking and begging for years. Fresh young faces with high upside

There are some areas that need addressing and will hold us back long term if they’re not addressed but so far this season is giving the fans plenty to be excited for

Yeah, look at the game stats - it's incredible the Titan's even got close to winning that game. If we had lost that, it would have been ridiculous. https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-pr ... 0608/stats
Ata Mariota’s #1 fan. Bless his cotton socks.

I'm sure there was a game during that infamous 60 mins Raiders period where we dominated the **** out of the game, I'm talking every stat by plenty and still got run down
