It's some encouraging moves. I note that the dropping of Hoppa was a forced change and probably wouldn't have happened had he not burned himself so I'm not viewing this as too much of a 'seeing the light' kind of moment, but dropping Guler is absolutely a good start. My prediction is that Guler will be our 4th best prop in NSW Cup this weekend and will be thoroughly outperformed by Mooney, Hors and probably even Hola.
As a final note, I'd love to see Savage and Rapa swap a bit during this game.

What I like about the team is we really have some pace out wide for a change after several years of Hoppa, Semi, HSS, Croker and Cotric. Even going back to CNK. I'm genuinely excited now about our backline. This will make a difference to not only our attack but also defence. This is needed against Will Kennedy and their wingers.
We owe them one after our flogging by them last time at their ground in the final round game. Also Rapa's 200th game for the club. What a player.

I agree, a step in the right direction.
Ricky hasn’t been as fixed with some players as previous seasons. So that’s an improvement.
Other than Elliot Whitehead I think this is pretty much form based. Starling probably a little lucky, but Pasami has been pretty good with his defence and play the ball (but he’ll know Mooney is knocking on the door).
Hors, Woolford and Mooney are doing the right things for a future opportunity.

We've got genuine speed on both wings. When was the last time that happened?

Does Hoppa's injury make the Raiders hall of fame for random injuries?

Gafa not that quick. I’m going quickest since Nagas Nadruku.-TW- wrote:Gafa and Graham?Northern Raider wrote:We've got genuine speed on both wings. When was the last time that happened?

I mean Seriously, it would be so disappointing if we lose this, sharks still have weapons but if we let them unlock these weapons we suck!

Freak BBQ accident sidelines Canberra Raiders back Albert Hopoate for Sharks clash
Canberra Raiders back Albert Hopoate has been ruled out for Sunday's clash with the Cronulla Sharks after a cooking accident. Hopoate didn't train on Tuesday following an oil fire on Monday night while cooking on his barbecue at home. Meanwhile the Raiders are aiming to stop the second half "fades" in 2024.
"It's a big focus we had during the pre-season - we're sick of fading out of games," Hudson Young said. "We want to be that team that's in there for 80 minutes and I feel like we're doing that this year."

He's well down the pecking order. Only spot for him is 14 at NRL level IMO.

I can't even remember tbh. Maybe Gafa? I just remember an outside back was playing with his kitten and got injured.RaiderSpark wrote: ↑March 26, 2024, 4:12 pmWhos wrestled a cat?NoMan wrote:Does Hoppa's injury make the Raiders hall of fame for random injuries?

We've got 3 wacky selections- Levi. In the debatable camp but we've got a hooker with a mediocre at best pass, no deception and a mediocre running game. Who stacks up poorly defensively. That's wacky.BJ wrote: ↑March 26, 2024, 3:38 pm I agree, a step in the right direction.

EW- whack.
Saulo over Hors- c'mon once was wacky. Twice is just stupid really.
Were we an unchangeable winning team? Did our pack dominate? No to both.

What’s going on with Horse. Surely Ricky is having a laugh. He’s a state of origin prop. Someone needs to ask Ricky the question. He did mention him going into the prop rotation. I would start with him and have Papali on the bench.
Re: 2024 Rd 4 v Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1
I wonder if the raiders are trying to get an extended deal done with mooney before they start giving him first grade minutes?

This is the round where the good ol’ fashioned smokescreens start. We will see a few changes come game day.

I watch last week NSW cup game and horse played well. His ball playing allowed for greater movement in the point of attack. He was tackling well and looking for hits. But during and after the game I just thought he looked a little under done physically and thought he could benefit from another week or 2 in cup. More so than 30 mins in 1st grade. But I sure he will be named soon.
Re: 2024 Rd 4 v Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1
I wonder if Justin Giteau is getting some input into selections with his Assistant FG Coaches cap on. He coached Ata and Schiller in NSW Cup last year, also Strange. He is now an assistant FG coach and these players are getting a run. Here's hoping he can replicate the attacking style of last year's NSW Cup side who were largely rookies last year.
As for EW, I want to see how he goes, 2nd game in for him. There has been some talk on here about swapping him during the game over to the left to replace Young during the match. That is his preferred side. It is where he plays for England and also in our 2019 Grand Final side. He has been a great player for our Club and I want to see how he goes in his preferred position.

Would you sign with an employer who was prepared to negatively impact your career and stunt your professional development (in a career only a decade long) in order to manipulate you into a new contract?

Happy to see Schiller get another run. Think he looks the goods.

Agree. I think that’s our strongest backline we could come up with until Chev forces his way in.julian87 wrote:That’s the most excited I’ve been about a backline in years.

Ah come on - the Horse has got to have a run.

I'm always a bit sceptical about Schiller's defence, but I'm happy to see him given a crack in this situation.
Definitely some decent strike power there in the backline. Hopefully we can dominate through the middle and cash in.
Too many errors at critical times last week. We need to take the ref out of the equation.
