I can imagine EW getting benched before kick off. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a a year of those type of moves to fit him in.

Isn’t Horsburgh suspended? He got 4 weeks for fighting the charge and losing. It would have been 3 with an early guilty plea.

I really thought Horse got a 5 week suspension and wasn’t due back until next week. I know what people have posted, but for some reason I always had 5 in my head.

Just when you think Stick may have turned a corner he comes out and selects a team based on what players did 5 years ago. Disappointing.

Putrid putrid team
Mariota out performs both Saulo and Guler week in week out and makes way.
Captain courageous will be back to his 4 runs for 18m and looking gassed after 10 minutes.

He dropped Ata and kept Guler. :doubt:

We all knew EW was always coming straight back in.
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

I can see the decision to start Whitehead based on his status as captain but what I can't understand is the insistence on playing fourth string props over genuine talent. It absolutely does my head in.

That's the strange one for me Dubs. The game is fast paced and we pick the slowest forward we have. It's like Sticky still thinks the scrums are contested and we need a big open side prop. Those days are long gone.

Congrats Ricky on the start to the season, have done great, the boys look on etc. But to coast Whitehead straight back in at the expense of Hosking is just wild. Hard to fathom

And yeah Guler. Oh and I'll throw Hopoate in too, even though we knew that was coming

Again the boys look on to start the year and I'm stoked about that, but that doesn't mean these selections are any less baffling

Sends yet another shocking message to the players that form isn’t what gets you picked in a Ricky Stuart team.

Terrible. The EDIT selections are back. The second row decision is terrible, we've just benched the guy coming 4th on the Dally M leaderboard, the bench props are back to last year's zero impact crew and the Hoppa and Cotric inclusions are just mediocre. And where TF is Horsburgh?!

This is another example of how little performance and form is taken into account at the Ricky Stuart selection table. I smell a loss coming.

Poor old Hosking too, he seems to be the most droppable guy and scapegoat, all his career 😂 I think he's consistently performed well but rarely consistently started

I didnt see that one coming. **** is Stick thinking.
The backline is what I thought it was. But should Smelly really be walking into the starting line up after an injury and his replacement basically been best on ground.

Raiders_Pat wrote: March 19, 2024, 10:14 am Interested to know why people think Cotric should be selected this week over Schiller. Schiller is absolutely tearing it up at NSW cup level and couldn't have really done much more to put his hand up imo. He was unlucky to miss out in round 1 but didn't sook and had a proper crack in NSW cup which is exactly what you want to see from a guy in his position.
Not sure it's a matter of thinking Cotric deserves selection over Schiller, in fact I reckon most want to see Schiller.

I just think Ricky is more inclined to stick to what he knows. And that's what happened in Rd 1.
Stuart spoke about how tough the call between Cotric and Hoppa was for him
Cotric was 18th man and wasnt afforded the opportunity to tear up NSW Cup...

If it were my call, i'd move Hoppa to centre and bring in Asomua... Hoppa on the winger and Schiller at centre is also a perfectly fine answer... but i cant see Stuart having either jump Cotric at this point
There's almost no chance Cotric or Hoppa would carve in Cup to the level Schiller has been, almost nil

Ricky has proven again that banging the door down in Cup is far from a guarantee of selection. Again I expected it, so I'm not shocked or anything, but it is what it is

I can cop Hosking for this week that is assuming he comes on after 20 minutes and Elliot goes into the middle rotation. It still bothers me because it’s clearly a symbolic pick - Hosking has been our best second rower since Hudson in 2022 imo.

But dropping Ata… so you’re telling me if Tapine and Papa retire tomorrow next up is Guler and Saulo. We actually don’t have as much front row depth as what people think… Tapine turns 30 in May and Papa has a good couple seasons left. They really only leaves us with Horse…. I’m furious that we are going to lose Mooney and even Hola because of Guler. Doesn’t matter how many times he drops the ball or how little meters he makes he is still picked every single week.

The captain should be someone who's undroppable, that's why it should have been Tapine. That was the first mistake, making Whitehead captain in the first place. Many great players have stepped down as captain towards the end of their careers

Ok I'm spam posting at this rate so this'll be the last one... but it's Ricky's well documented stubbornness at this point, trying to prove he was right about Guler by continually re-picking him
