The Greenhouse - Now in our 20th anniversary season!

Today marks the 19th birthday of The Greenhouse, and as we enter our 20th anniversary season we are still the one! The biggest and best Canberra Raiders supporters site on the net.

As always, on this day, we recognise the site's founders, Nick and Ed. There’s little doubt that they could not have foreseen what was to come. No one could. Back in 2005, Facebook was in its infancy, and had not been launched for the general public. Twitter and Instagram did not exist.

We now have 4,000 members of TheGH.com.au. The Greenhouse Facebook page now has 50,000 followers. We also have around 9,500 followers on Twitter and more than 11,000 on Instagram. We have over 100,000 followers on all our social media platforms.

Whenever big news breaks, it is The Greenhouse the supporters come to. And whenever people want to know what Raiders fans are thinking, it is The Greenhouse they come to.

Thanks to the members and followers of The GH, for continuing to make The Greenhouse the number one Canberra Raiders supporters website!

We aim to be even better in 2024. Hopefully, it will be the Year of the Raiders!

Absolutely incredible! Twenty years, I just can't believe it.

So many people have come and stayed, while others no longer post as much as I'd like.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Happy birthday, GH. My internet habits have changed since the early days, but I still love this place.

Yup, this is the place to be. To rant, to rave, to sob and to beg. You've got it all.

Seriously though, excellent work to the Mods, its hard thankless work, and you only notice it when its not there.
