Thank you Nick Cotric

Post by bayraider »

I think he has recaptured some of his old form.
Running well, breaking tackles and scoring tries
Let's hope he keeps it up and heads into a big off season with plenty of confidence back. And cements his wing position for next year. He is allot better player than Hopoate i think.
He is still a world class player in my opinion.

I would have thought the 500K salary the club pay's him to do his job is thank you enough...

 true that. I've seen it reported to be as high as $660k! Isn't he the highest paid winger in the comp? Or second behind Sualii (who was meant to be a centre this year).

Look, he's been ok the past 2 weeks. He's bagged a try in each and run the ball a little stronger. I wouldn't say they were performances worthy of a 'Thank you' thread but it's a free country.

vs Broncos - 12 runs, 133m, 6 TB, 1 LB, 3 tackles, 2 missed tackles, 1 error
vs Bulldogs - 9 runs, 88m, 6 TB, 1 LB, 4 tackles, 1 missed tackle, 1 error

Hoppa was going reasonably well earlier in the year but has been poor in the past month. I'd have Cotric ahead but I think it's closer than it should be. I wouldn't be opposed to a new signing coming in and leapfrogging them both.

I thought this was going to be he's opting out of half his salary for 24 after being a terrible ROI

Instead it's highest paid winger in comp gets congratulated for playing like middle of the road winger. Crazy to think he's on significantly more than Rapa. Especially when Rapa keeps spending $5k in fines per week.

Bit much tbh, but it is good to see him getting back to his old, very capable self.
Lets hope it continues but at the very least we can mercifully we can now put the Hopoate fiasco to bed.

Good try v Brisbane in a narrow corridor but he has heaps to do to justify being the second highest paid winger. An Australia and NSW representative in 2019 but he would now be in the bottom quarter of wingers. But I don’t think Stuart did him any favours with the team selections as Hoppa was never going to be long term

Nic has started to find some form- great to see I agree.

Why bag Nic. for his salary?- Don and Rick are the muppets who offered it and signed off on it.

No one is bagging Nic for his salary. I don't think anyone ever blames the player who receives a great deal for themselves. That blame is always put on the club for being reckless/stupid with some of the contracts and ruining our chances of recruiting other good players.

The point is, he's being paid a huge amount for a winger and his performances don't match his pay, let alone being worthy of 'thank you' threads. More is expected of the higher profile/paid players in the squad than to just be finding 'some' form in round 25 onwards...

He had his best game in a green jersey in years last week.

Let’s see more of it before we start thanking.

Nick wouldn't get a start at any other club on the wing in the NRL imo.

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

He’s just not a ballplayer. It’s not the coaching or the ridiculous, systems he was forced to play under, it’s him

He’s the problem it’s him

Ha! Yes that was what I was poking fun at. The mode of release. Not your lack of recognition for a really good player.

Yes, and I’m saying call it whatever you like. Ye he asked for a release and we granted it. That’s not my point and you know it.
