Raiders assistant coach Andrew McFadden heading to Warriors
Looks like we'll need a new assistant next year.
Andrew McFadden to return to Warriors next season in new role
Andrew McFadden is coming back to the Warriors as the club’s general manager of recruitment, development and pathways.
McFadden, who was head coach of the Warriors between 2014 and 2016, before becoming an assistant to Stephen Kearney, has agreed to move back to New Zealand, replacing Craig Hodges.

Andrew McFadden to depart Raiders at end of season
Canberra Raiders assistant coach Andrew McFadden will depart the club at the end of the 2022 season to take up a role with the New Zealand Warriors as general manager recruitment, development and pathways.
“The Raiders gave me the opportunity to start my career as a player and coach and they’ll always hold a special place for me,” McFadden said. “I truly believe the Raiders are continuing to head in the right direction and I know they’ll be a successful club in the years ahead and I wish them all the best. I look forward to finishing the season here and hopefully seeing the team make it into the finals and beyond.”

Good luck to Cappy. Sounds like a good opportunity for him and it is probably good to have some fresh voices in the coaching ranks at the Raiders.

Would like Slater to come in as an assistant. Even just to give Savage a year under his coaching.
Re: Raiders assistant coach Andrew McFadden heading to Warriors
All the best Cappy.
This is probably a good thing for both parties.
As they say, to remain successful every year you need to either change the message, change who’s delivering the message, or change who’s hearing the message.
As our playing roster isn’t changing much next year in terms of new recruits (just losses), our head coach just re-signed, and we won’t be changing our game plan, the only option left is changing who’s delivering the message, being a new assistant coach.
Hopefully we get someone good that can kick us up a gear.

Good luck to Cappy.
I think we all know what Sam Williams will probably be doing next year, seeing as Sticky rates his football brains.

He's got a big, and potentially rewarding, job on his hands.
The Warriors should have one of the largest and most successful junior pathway systems in the NRL. I wonder what his budget is?

Interesting that he's essentially headed to take up a role currently vacant for us
Good luck to him. I agree with GE, this sounds like a good opportunity for him and it's a good chance for us to freshen up the ideas on the coaching staff.

I really hope we have a good external look at a replacement. But can’t help but think the job will be given to a recently retired Raider.

Yep. I think we’re badly in need of a fresh voice amongst the coaching team. Someone with experience in training modern attacking skills.
But I’d happily take a recently sacked NRL coach (or soon to be sacked coach).

Wondering how much longer we'll have Brett White on the roster
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

What do people think about Mick Potter as a replacement?
He has turned the Bulldogs around, and said last weekend that he's open to offers for next year.

Jersey Flegg Coach Justin Giteau will be considered I would.suggest. Good apprenticeship in coaching with success at a number of local clubs. Can't see an ex player getting the nod.

He does have the right name for the gig. He has to be related to the Struggletown Mafia?Bluesbrother wrote:Jersey Flegg Coach Justin Giteau will be considered I would.suggest. Good apprenticeship in coaching with success at a number of local clubs. Can't see an ex player getting the nod.

I want Ennis, Barrett, Madge in that order.BJ wrote:Yep. I think we’re badly in need of a fresh voice amongst the coaching team. Someone with experience in training modern attacking skills.

Others I'd look at, Dave Furner, Shaun Wane, Mick Potter, Geoff Toovey.

If we don't end up with one of Simon Woolford or Sam Williams or [insert ex-Raiders player here] I'll be very surprised.

If we get Furner, Wane, or Toovey, I want them to do the post match press conferences instead of Stick.bonehead wrote: ↑August 3, 2022, 6:05 amI want Ennis, Barrett, Madge in that order.BJ wrote:Yep. Furner would refer to all the players with a ‘y’ at the end of their name even when it sounds ridiculous (Xaviery, Jordany, Sebastiany, Jamaaly, Zacky, Elliotty, Adamy, Ryany, Emrey, Corey-y). He’d also tell us “it’s the little things”.
Wane would just tell everyone how crap our players are. “Yeah, Tapine ran for 250 metres 100 post contact and scored a try and had 5 offloads and 10 tackle breaks made 35 tackles for 100% efficiency and no errors, but we both know there’s so much more he needs to improve on if he wants to be a top class player in this environment”
Toovey would have a vein explode out of his head demanding an investigation every time we get screwed over by the refs, which is frequently.

Good luck to Cappy in his future endeavors and let me be the first to officially welcome back Dean Pay.

He’ll have to fight Sam Williams for the slot. The Nickman wrote: ↑August 3, 2022, 9:48 am Good luck to Cappy in his future endeavors and let me be the first to officially welcome back Dean Pay.
$1.01 that Sammy is on the coaching staff in some form next year.
