Signed up for a TAFE brewing course yesterday. Thinking it might help me get to the next step of my brewing progress. It’s one of those Statement of Attainment ones, but I figure it’ll help me determine if I want to go all-out on the Cert III
Completed the master class today. Talked Mrs Fui into letting me upgrade and invest in some All Grain brewing equipment.

Next chapter in Fui’s Brewies is about to be written lads.

Have been seeing some of the stories about the nightmare of renewing passports, right now, with huge delays. So I got a text last month telling me my passport needs renewing, expires in October, so I thought I better get organised. Started to fill out the on line application at about 4pm. Completed about four hours later. Just establishing an account took forever, as every step sent the whirling wheel into action, which took many minutes to stop. Every single response was the same. Threw me out and had to reset the password. Long story short, filling in the info takes forever.

Got to the end, and the on line application system isn’t on line at all. All it is is creating the form which you need to print, do a bit more filling out and take to Australia Post, get the photos taken and pay $308.

Next challenge… I don’t have a printer. Who needs paper forms in 2022?

I have Covid, I am in isolation at home.

The monster just ain’t getting it.

Monster- How are you feeling today ?
PJ- A bit better than yesterday.
Monster- Can you drive ?
PJ- I can practice in the driveway if I get bored, why ?
Monster- You can go for a drive with the family if you don’t get out of the car.
PJ- Have you suffered a head knock ? No. No. No. I have Covid. By law I am to stay right here at home for 7 days, I can’t go anywhere. Only in extreme cases can I leave this block. There’s no driving around town. I don’t know where you’re getting your information but NO. I’m allowed to roam the backyard/garden, hang the washing out etc. Show me anywhere written it says I can “go for a drive”.
Monster- It’s for morale building.
PJ- I’ll wait here, you go show me some evidence..go on !!!!
Monster- ok ok..(walks away)

Monster- Have you been out this morning to buy fresh bread rolls for lunch ?
PJ- No, we’re in lockdown till midnight Sunday. Not allowed to go anywhere.
Monster- If you’re feeling better you could of gone out.
PJ- How I feel isn’t important. Just following NSW Health direction. Tested positive Monday, today is Saturday. Which part ain’t you grasping here ?

 This should be a sit com.

PJ and the monster.
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Hmmm… she wants you out of the house real bad.

So either she really hates you or she’s frustrated and wants to do something she can’t do while you’re home like smoke weed or fill your socks with itching powder.

Fuifui Bradbrad wrote:Had a bit of a rough day today. So in October I took a 12 month secondment which was a step up into a higher role. Over the last 6 months, I’ve been working on a development plan to get myself considered for a permanent gig. Been busting my Fui’s to get noticed by the higher ups and make myself indispensable.

Found out today my secondment was not only funded by a project that was in progress, but it’s been shortened from October to 30 June.

I’m in 2 minds. On the one hand, I love my old team, and I’m excited to be back in the fold. On the other hand, I feel played, that they would lead me to think there was a chance of something more, and then do me over. Had I known there was an expiry date, I wouldn’t have applied.
So April through to now has been… fun. So basically a chunk of work has moved from the team I was seconded in, to a new team. I moved along with the work. Basically the work has gone from being managed by 9 people to 3. It’s been stressful as hell, and I’ve been counting down to 30 June to go back to my old team.

So my current team and team I’ll be going back to share the same Head Of. The Head Of calls me today, and asks whether I can stay on for an extra 3 weeks while they recruit more people. I told him I’d think about it, because last time this happened, a few weeks turned into a few months, turned into a year, turned into a restructure and me joining this team. I told him I’ll think about it over the weekend.

I feel like I’m in a no win situation. I say no, and I’ll be putting the Head Of offside, while also causing additional stress for my current team as they go down 1 person, which I already have guilt over. However I’ll be back in a team I’ll be happy with. I say yes, and I’ll be doing 3 weeks more of work that’s been making me so stressed and angry, to the point I feel it bleeding into my home life. Plus my old team / new team will be down a person for 3 more weeks.

I feel like I have to say yes, for the betterment of the team, but I know historically I do what’s right for the team, and that good deed never comes back around.

That’s where I’m struggling. They know it’s not what I’m wanting. I’ve made it clear since April when this new team was formed.

I’m at the stage where I’m over it. They constantly talk about “Your brand” at work and how important it is. They’ve put me in a position where my Brand is either someone who says no to the big boss requests, or someone who is just an instrument who can be plugged into wherever, without a care for their well-being or development.

What makes it worse, is I know he met with my current and upcoming leader about this. They both advised him not to ask me to do this because I feel this way, and he still did it.
