SURVIVOR POLL III: Top ten greatest ever Raiders
Back in 2007, the members of The Greenhouse voted on their top ten greatest ever Canberra Raiders. It was a survivor-style poll... and this was the top ten back then:
Now, after 40 seasons of The Green Machine, we're going to vote again... and we'll see how the list might change. Will players from the modern era of the club be able to force their way in? The starting point will be the top 30 players selected in our poll for the 40 Year Dream Team.
In the first poll, we voted 10 players off the island... and in the second we voted off five. Noa Nadruku, Dean Lance, Jarrod Croker, Josh Hodgson and Ken Nagas are latest players to leave. In this poll, a twist. Instead of voting off players one by one from here, your choice is going to become immediately more difficult. We will vote three players off the island in poll three.
The records of all the players with the club can be found here.
You have THREE votes in this poll. You may change your vote, but we'll declare the poll after this time next week. Remember, you are voting players OFF the island.

This is getting really difficult. I voted Rapana and Wighton last time, so two of my choices already were settled. The third is between Furner and Mullins, and at the moment I’ve gone with Furner.

Belcher, Wighton and Furner... it's time to leave
Re: SURVIVOR POLL III: Top ten greatest ever Raiders
Belcher, Furner, Lazarus - 3 of my absolute favourite players, Badge vs Rapana tough call

Mullins, Furner, Lazarus
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Wighton Rapa Lazzo.
Lazzo one of those very tough calls - if you take him at his prime in green he cruises in. This type of ranking I think it's more career in green than peak though. If it was an anniversary team I'd be looking more at the peak.

Tough one.
Meninga, Stuart, Daley, Clyde, Wiki and Walters are no-brainers IMO, which only leaves 4 spots.
Chicka, Mullins and Furner get voted out for mine.
Rapana has been a better winger for us than Chicka, Badge was clearly better than Mullins over the course of his career, and as good as Furner was, there have been a number of forwards that have honestly been better.

Re: SURVIVOR POLL III: Top ten greatest ever Raiders
15 players left on the list and 3 to be removed. All are highly valued by Raider fans. The core of the Premiership run was Mal, Sticky, Badge, Daley, Clyde, Boxhead. They are must stays imo. Wiki, Furner, Mullins were good at the back end of the run. Lazo is an all time great for 3 Clubs. Some fine players will be removed from the list.
Re: SURVIVOR POLL III: Top ten greatest ever Raiders
Yeah it's getting to the point i don't like voting anybody out.
I went for Mullins (burned very bright but relatively brief) and found myself having to vote for Toots Snr out too, despite being one of my favourite Raiders of all time, getting harder and harder to justify him in that company.
I gave a vote for Jack too. Which is simply reflective of him being halfway through his career, with hopefully some more real highlights to come.

I voted off Ferguson, Mullins and Rapana. Very hard choice.
Re: SURVIVOR POLL III: Top ten greatest ever Raiders
went Rapana, Wighton and then had to think hard about the third..... went with Lazo - he was only at the Raiders for 3-4 years.

Badge wasn't there for 94... that was all Mullins.RedRaider wrote: ↑June 11, 2022, 5:09 pm 15 players left on the list and 3 to be removed. All are highly valued by Raider fans.
