Just FYI this split definition only exists in the US.yurithe1 wrote: ↑May 18, 2022, 5:36 pmJust to clarify, "assault" is the threat of violence. "Battery" is the actual violence being carried out. That's why the two terms are usually connected to each other.gergreg wrote: ↑May 18, 2022, 5:13 pmOk, I guess so. I find it hard to really make out anything from the footage. Just arms flying about the place from all parties.BadnMean wrote:Evidence accepted by both sides and on camera has the other side grabbing Scott- the "restraining" and shirt lifting referred to. Evidently the court decided that was also an unwanted assault (not battery or other varieties but unwanted touching or physicality).gergreg wrote: ↑May 17, 2022, 6:17 pmWouldn't that be intimidation? Surely you can't just clock someone and say you thought they were going to punch you, so you punched them first?Mickey_Raider wrote:
That is actually the essence of what assault is. It doesn't necessarily require being physically punched in the face; it is enough being under the apprehension that you're about to be punched in the face or there is a risk of same.
"Assault" is both the threat of and the act of here. This is usually clarified by labelling verbal assault etc.

That was more to do with agreeing to let him go back to the uk and play in the uk whereas he wanted ( *girlfriend wanted) to go up to Sydneygergreg wrote: ↑May 19, 2022, 7:50 pmWasn't it only last year that the club 'settled' with G. Williams after a less than ideal departure from the club?cat wrote:Firstly this lawyer doesn't need any more clients, curtis is keeping him busy enough!
But I am very confident he has no case for suing the raiders.
One thing I will say about Donny he has been awesome at terminating contracts legally. Last one I remember even trying was Steve Irwin and he didn't win
Very different from suing for unfair dismissal

Give the poor lawyer a break! He will get to that one after the DV charges and suing the Raiders!
He can only bill 20hours per day!
He still needs to
- sue the nrl for not registering his contract
- sue the eels for not allowing him the chance to clear his name first before letting him go
Not to mention clear him of any future charges for illegal acts
Poor poor tired lawyer!

I wish this bloke would just go away. He's made me angry from the first whiff of a rumour of his signing right up until now. The bloke is an absolute hack. A very, very ordinary player and always was on top of everything else.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

His off field stuff is the equivalent of Orford on field stuff.
And at least Orford was trying his best - not his fault he was a bit past it and someone threw a bag of money at him to play footy.
