33rd min TRY RAIDERS to Mani Leuluai. Great try! He kicks ahead for himself down the touch line and regathers! This is a player to watch. Sam Gash converts from the sideline.
Raiders 44-0
Sam Chapman goes off, doesn’t appear to be injured, just rested.

43rd min TRY RAIDERS to Sam Gash. He gets the ball on the Raiders own goal line and he runs 100 metres to score! That’s 50! The Bears have had a couple of chances but the Raiders have foiled them. Gash converts his own try.

Raiders kick off to start SG Ball. Penalty Bears first tackle. Adrian Trevilyan here at the ground… as mentioned in the NSW Cup thread, he’s not playing today.

41st min TRY RAIDERS to Deakin Bright. The kick to the corner was regathered by winger Jacob Haeta, and he offloaded back inside to Bright. Corey Lewis gets a great sideline conversion. Some sprinkles of rain but nothing too much.

70th min TRY BEARS to fullback Brettle, running on the last. This has been an arm wrestle and there goes the hooter. That’s heartbreaking. Brettle converts. The Raiders did not really deserve to lose that. Their defence was terrific.

AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders Tarsha Gale Cup team posted their second win of the season at Kippax in Round 8, defeating the North Sydney Bears, 20-12. The Bears scored three tries in the first half, but they could not add to their tally in the second. Raiders fullback Georgia Willey got a double, while Alanna Dummett and Roxy Horne also crossed for the Green Machine.
The Raiders have climbed into 10th place on the ladder, but are clearly out of finals contention. They have a tough assignment against the Parramatta in the final round of the regular season - with the Eels sitting in second place on the ladder. They are on a five game winning streak, having lost just one match, in Round 1, to the Sydney Roosters (22-10). They are coming off a 22-12 win over the Illawarra Steelers.
These two teams played out a 16 all draw in their last meeting - at Seiffert Oval in Round 6 last year. In 2020, the Raiders won 30-8 at Kippax in Round 1 - with the Raiders piling on six tries.
Team news: Lila Brewer replaces Chloe Doon at prop, while Hayley Liddle takes over from Roxy Horne in the second row.

AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders Harold Matthews team will be playing finals football in 2022, after a huge, 50-10, win over the North Sydney Bears at Kippax on Sunday afternoon. With four wins, they have pushed their way into the top four teams on the ladder. In the final round of the regular season, the Green Machine faces the sixth placed Parramatta Eels - so this match will be crucial to their final placing. The Eels have also posted four wins and two losses this year - and the teams are only separated by points differential. Canberra's 40 point victory over the Bears certainly helped with that.
The Raiders ran rampant over the Bears in the first half against North Sydney, scoring seven tries. That's a four pointer every four minutes. The home side took a 38-0 lead to the break - and they did take the foot off the accelerator in the second half. The Bears only scored two tries, in the final 10 minutes. Raiders centre Siamani Leuluai is a player to watch. He got a double, the second a great kick chase and regather. The other highlight was a 100 metre try scored by winger Sam Gash. He finished with a personal tally of 18 points. Hooker Ethan Alaia and lock forward and captain Owen Hromow are other players to write down in the note book.
The Canberra Raiders last won the premiership in this grade in 1995. They've only done it three times. Obviously, it is premature to talk too much about that. The Magpies have not lost once this year, while both the Roosters and Panthers have lost just once. But Canberra has been building - and it is great to see this team doing so well, after the Raiders have been also rans in this grade for so long.
Team news: Sam Gash has been named at fullback for the Raiders, with Lekani Mpase to line up on the wing. Mathias Tomuli-Ah-Khoi is back at starting prop, with Jayden Woolfe to start on the bench.

AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders SG Ball team suffered a heartbreaking, 18-16, loss to the North Sydney Bears at Kippax on Sunday. Both teams scored two tries in the first half, but the Bears led 12-10 at the break. In the 41st minute, a try to Raiders centre Deakin Bright - and a sideline conversion from Corey Lewis - delivered a four point margin for the home team. For the rest of the second stanza, the two teams tackled themselves to a standstill. And just when it seemed that the Raiders might win the arm wrestle, the Bears ran it on the last tackle of the match and came up trumps. North Sydney fullback Darcy Brettle got his second try of the afternoon and the hooter sounded seconds later. That levelled the match at 16 all - and Brettle had the task of converting his own try to secure victory. The goal never looked like missing. It was North Sydney's first win in this grade in three years.
If it wasn't already clear, the loss extinguished any hope the Raiders had of defending their SG Ball premiership title. In the final game of the regular season, the Raiders meet the ninth placed Parramatta Eels. Both teams have won two games, but the Raiders have one more loss to their name. The Eels are coming off a 22-14 win over the Illawarra Steelers on Saturday. Hopefully the Raiders can finish on a high note with victory at Cabramatta.
Team news: Corey Lewis made a late move to fullback last week and he takes the No. 1 jersey this weekend. Jacob Haeata, a Round 8 late inclusion, retains his place on the wing. Thomas Carey moves into the centres, with Joseph Roddy and Kylan Mafoa to form the new second row pairing. Jacob Piper comes in at lock. Jack Anderson replaces Stan Iongi at hooker. Jordan Eti comes in on the bench.

AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders lost to the Parramatta Eels, 26-16, in the final round of the Harold Matthews Cup on Saturday at Kellyville. The Green Machine took a 10-0 lead at the 20 minute mark, after tries to winger Jack Clutterbuck and prop Mathias Tomuli-Ah-Kuoi. The Eels grabbed a two point advantage, after prop forward Sam Tuivaiti crossed early in the second half. But the Raiders edged ahead again after halfback Noah Marcantonio scored in the 38th minute. From there, the Eels took control of the scoreboard - running in three unanswered tries. The loss cost the Raiders fifth place on the ladder - a position taken up by Parramatta.
The Raiders will face the Penrith Panthers in Week 1 of the finals. The Raiders were the wooden spooners in this grade last year and did not win a game. To turn that around in the space of one year is a big achievement. The Panthers, finished third on the ladder - posting six wins and only one loss. They're coming off a 42-16 victory over the Newcastle Knights at Maitland. The sixth placed Raiders finished the regular season with a four and three record.
Earlier this year, Penrith beat Canberra, 22-18, at Kippax in Round 3. The Raiders were right in that contest until the final hooter. The teams were tied at 12 all at the break - but tries to winger David Afu and benchie Tane Papu gave the Panthers a 22-12 lead at the 45 minute mark. Five minutes later Sam Gash scored a 100 metre intercept try - and his conversion saw the Raiders trail by just four. That ended the scoring on the day, but the match easily could have gone the other way. The Raiders had a couple of tries disallowed in the second half.
The Canberra Raiders last made the Grand Final and last won the premiership in this grade in 1995. They've only done it three times. It will be a tough contest for the young Raiders this week. But here's hoping they can take one step closer to a long awaited Grand Final appearance.
Team news: Raiders coach Peter Marrapodi has named an unchanged team.
SG Ball
The Canberra Raiders SG Ball team finished the season on a good note, defeating the Parramatta Eels, 32-26 at Kellyville on Saturday. The 2021 premiers finished in ninth place on the ladder - one win adrift of the sixth placed Bulldogs. The Eels led 14-12 at half time - with centre and captain Thomas Carey and winger Jacob Haeata scoring tries for the Green Machine. The teams traded tries early in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but the Raiders finished more strongly. A second try to Carey in the 58th minute, was followed up by winger Regan Carr with four minutes left on the clock - wrapping up the victory.
The Raiders will no doubt be rueing the two point loss to the Sea Eagles in Round 1 - and the two point loss to the Bears last week. They were the difference between playing finals football and finishing the season early. Some of the squad will now be hoping that they can push for consideration in Jersey Flegg.
Tarsha Gale
The Canberra Raiders Tarsha Gale Cup team suffered a 52-0 defeat at the hands of the Parramatta Eels on Saturday - with the home team crossing for nine tries. The match was already gone at half time, with the Eels leading 28-0 at the break. It is not the way the Canberra team would have wanted to end their season. The team finished the year with two wins and six losses - and in 10th place on the ladder. They were two wins away from the top six, with the fifth placed Steelers and sixth placed Dragons both recording four wins. The Roosters and Eels are now favourites for the title.

Re: 2022 Canberra Raiders Junior Representatives
The HM side has been the real surprise. Wishing them well this weekend.
Re: 2022 Canberra Raiders Junior Representatives
They seem to have recruited a bit more widely from across the region this year. Players coming in from the Riverina and maybe South Coast (can’t quite remember). Switching Peter Marrapodi to this grade seems to have come up trumps too.
Re: 2022 Canberra Raiders Junior Representatives
Marrapodi expecting a tough clash
Raiders Harold Matthews coach Peter Marrapodi knows that his team will have to be at their best on Friday if they are to beat the third placed Panthers in Week 1 of the finals on Friday.
“We have got to be really strong defensively around the middle of the field. We have to play well and we need to be really disciplined,” Marrapodi said. “We think we have got the game to turn that result from earlier in the year around, and hopefully our finesse and our skill can bring a few points.”
