Vale Marvin Lee Aday, known as Meatloaf. 'Bat out of Hell' and 'You took the words right out of my mouth' are long time favorites.

Do you think with his passing, you’ll stop seeing media personalities poke fun at that performance?

I was wondering that. Peter Hellier would roll that out at least once a year.

Anyone watch the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert from Wembley Stadium.

Foo Fighters + friends…

Brian Johnson, Lars Urich, Chrissie Hines, Brian May, Roger Taylor, Paul McCartney and many more.

The highlight was Taylor’s son Shane who played drums when the Foo’s knocked out “My Hero”

I enjoyed it.

Banging could of months of music in the Fui household.
* Red Hot Chilli Peppers tomorrow
* Red Hot Summer festival in March. Has Paul Kelly, Ian Moss, Bernard Fanning, Missy Higgins and a few others
* Eskimo Joe in March, doing the Black Fingernails Red Wine album

So I have to stay alive until at least the end of March

Can't believe RHCP are still going. I remember seeing them at the Hordern for the Blood, sugar, sex, majic tour. They lost me soon after that album.

I couldn’t believe it either. It’s why we jumped at the chance. We’re on a quest to see any show where there’s a high probability it’s the last chance of seeing them.

Bruce Springsteen is #1 on that list

So Chilli’s were a bit of a letdown. Never seen an audience so flat. Of 18 songs played, 6 were classics and the rest were new music. They played Cant Stop, Zephyr, Snow, Soul to Squeeze, Californication, By the way and Give it Away.

For me, if you’re a band as iconic as they are, doing stadium tours in a country you rarely visit, you shouldn’t be playing 66% new music. The ratio was backwards for me.

** Edit ** Just found an accurate review https://www.smh.com.au/culture/music/fo ... 5chgo.html

Yeah I heard/read that they refuse to play Under the bridge because of its connection to drugs. Odd, considering this is probably the individual song that rocketed them to stardom - and guided their style. After that song they shifted from a predominantly funky/edgy group to focus many of their songs on 'ballads'.

Maybe they limit how much they play from BSSM because they were all wasted - despite this clearly being their best album (and it's not even close).

My parents went to see Don McLean many years ago and he didn’t play American Pie.

Personally I’d consider that a blessing. But they felt let down.

That bastard!

There are some other famous ones. From memory I think REM hate playing “Shiny Happy People”, and Radiohead are annoyed by the focus on “creep” I think. Don’t remember if it’s to the point of not playing at concerts. Think it was for REM.

Paramore stopped playing Misery Business due to it being mysogynistic I think. Which struck me as strange, because it’s a little immature and catty, but doesn’t particularly strike me as mysogynistic.

No one was going to a Radiohead concert once they’d released a second album with a focus on ‘Creep’ though. I mean by 2000 they’d just put out possibly the greatest 3 album stretch since Pink Floyd in the 70s. Everyone sort of purposefully forgot Pablo Honey.

Doing some afternoon drinking at the Red Hot Summer tour. Vika and Linda Bull, underrated. Their set was really good. Surprised me with songs I didn’t realise was theirs.

Mark Seymour - Done, he did a good job.

Bull sisters - Done. They’re always consistent. If I was to start a band, they’d be backing vocals.

Ian Moss and Troy Cassar-Daly - I’ll riot if I don’t hear Tucker’s daughter

Missy Higgins - Like the mailman, she always delivers. Looking forward to her.

Bernard Fanning - If he ends with Watch Over Me, I’ll be a wreck.

Paul Kelly - I’ll be a mess by the time he gets on. Most of his songs hit me in the feels. To her door, or they thought I was asleep will put me over.Image

Good one Nicko. Happy wife, happy… Nicko.

Treated ourselves to a record player a couple of weeks back. Really getting into the whole fossicking through albums in stores routine.

I am aware of what I’m becoming, as I listen to my Jeff Buckley vinyl in between home brewing and BBQing some briskit.
