North Queensland Cowboys: 2021 round 1 predicted team

With Jake Clifford's future elsewhere in 2022, Scott Drinkwater and Michael Morgan are likely the preferred starting halves combination. Tom Gilbert was arguably the club's best forward towards the end of 2020 and deserves a starting spot although Coen Hess could return to the run-on team. Reuben Cotter could pass Jake Granville as the preferred hooker back-up.

1. Valentine Holmes
2. Kyle Feldt
3. Esan Marsters
4. Justin O'Neil

9. Reece Robson
10. Jordan McLean
11. Tom Gilbert
12. Mitchell Dunn
13. Jason Taumalolo (c)

I guess that rules out Cowboys for signing Reynolds. Townsend definite upgrade for them. Not going to make them contenders though.

Probably the best they could have done given their current situation. Entering the race for Reynolds would have cost them a packet and they would have lost that race as well. Hard to compete for Reynolds signature with Sydney clubs that have similar cash available.

Townsend is ok but 650 is overs. Now they got Dearden too so they got two organising halves. And neither are all that convincing

Is he any better than Clifford?

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

North Queensland Cowboys coach Todd Payten to isolate for two weeks as COVID-19 'close contact'

Todd Payten will miss the Cowboys' next two games after being sent into a 14-day isolation due to close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case in Townsville. He is awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test after the Cowboys cancelled Wednesday's training session, with assistant coach Dean Young to take charge for their next two clashes against Newcastle and South Sydney.

A little misleading. Payten was at one of the exposure sites same time as the COVID case. That's normally regarded as a casual contact rather than a close contact. Same protocols in place though.

Depends, Queensland Health make a risk based assessment on a number of things. My flatmate is currently under a 14 day quarantine at home order due to a case attending his workplace, despite it being a huge supermarket.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.
