Tapine in for Lui and CHN for Guler the only changes.

Not too sure about Bailey coming out taking ****,just keep quiet and prepare and don’t give the panthers any more fuel than required.

Crichton is a horrible fullback... He was so bad last week they may move Staines back there. Either way we need to be bombing the hell out of them..Staines especially is suspect under the high ball
Re: 2020 Rd 5 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
chn to come in for starling. we cant be wasting a bench spot on a third hooking option

Re: 2020 Rd 5 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
Yeah some dumb comments from our players in the media lately. Bailey as you just mentioned and also Whitehead said about the Titans “we were able to slow down the ruck”.
He needs to instead say “that our tacklers worked in unison to pressure the Titans making it difficult for them to play up tempo”.
This is how Bellamy and Storm players address these things. They never say they slowed down the ruck, won the wrestle or rushed off the defensive line.
Almost as dumb as Sean Fensom coming out in the media about his techniques to slow down the play the ball.

Re: 2020 Rd 5 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
Hard to get a line on the Panthers form given the poor opposition they've faced. They gave Cowboys, Dogs and Manly a flogging but so has everybody. Tough win over Storm with both sides missing key players in appalling conditions. So that game not the best guide.pickles wrote: ↑April 6, 2021, 3:17 pm Panthers are flying at the moment and will be very tough to beat. Not a bad thing to be going into a game like this as underdogs at this point in the season.
I think we can match them from a defensive perspective but their attack has been looking much sharper. That said, Wighton is due for a good game and at his best can be the difference between 2 teams.
This will certainly give us an idea of where we are at in terms of the form teams in the comp and what we need to work on. Not that we don't already know that it is our cohesion in attack and our kicking game!
I think this game will give a good idea where both teams are at.

They're missing half their spine.. if we're serious about contending we should win. No excuses.
Re: 2020 Rd 5 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
I expect to see CHN smokescreened in given he's named in the extended squad

Mate, clean up your act. Posts like this will see you declared non compus mentis on this blog. We want to hear about dropping CNK, Simonsson, Croker, Hodgson and now add the genius idea that Wighton has four weeks to prove his worth or he is gone too.Northern Raider wrote: ↑April 6, 2021, 4:19 pm

I'm with you guys... Harawira-Naera needs to come in for one of either Starling or Havili.GreenMachine wrote: ↑April 6, 2021, 4:28 pmI agree with this in theory but I always find it hard to leave Starling out...for mine it would be Havili (who is actually playing very well) ...so who knows.
Re: 2020 Rd 5 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
With the game being quicker and the ball being in play more having some lighter bodies who are more mobile is a big advantage. Where we rolled the Titans in the end was with quick darts out of dummy half against a retreating defensive line so having Havili as a running forward and Starling as a back up hooker makes sense from that perspective, keeps our defence solid and gives us some options if an outside back is injured, especially until Scott is back and we can have Kris on the bench.GreenMachine wrote: ↑April 6, 2021, 4:28 pmI agree with this in theory but I always find it hard to leave Starling out...for mine it would be Havili (who is actually playing very well) ...so who knows.

Why doesn't anyone question Sia's spot on the bench? He gives the least impact.GreenMachine wrote: ↑April 6, 2021, 4:28 pmI agree with this in theory but I always find it hard to leave Starling out...for mine it would be Havili (who is actually playing very well) ...so who knows.

If it were up to me I'd probably prefer somebody like Guler over Soliola. But on Starling/Havili - I'm just not convinced at this stage that carrying the two of them on the interchange is the best strategy.radicalraider wrote: ↑April 6, 2021, 4:36 pmWhy doesn't anyone question Sia's spot on the bench? Yeah, I agree. IMO our biggest risk is Hodgo going off kilter or Wighton trying to put the killer play on too often.
This is not 2016. I don't think we will blow them off the park. We can absolutely win the game through the middle though.
Hopefully we can put good kick pressure on Cleary too. James did a great job of that last week.

Seriously you guy suggesting sia make way for anyone is a swear word in my house, the guy puts everything on every game and doesn’t ask for thankyou’s just does it again the next week, he can play as long as he like in my opinion, you know what your going to get week in week out , you don’t need to worry about him while he is on the field you know he is going to take that tough run or make that cover tackle, you never have to worry about him doing his job when he crosses that white line, drop the mike

Drop Hodgo. Release Croker. Trade Wighton. CNK to wing. Sack Ricky.
Better?

Canberra Raiders prepare for almost perfect Penrith Panthers in NRL blockbuster
The Raiders will need to snap the best run of form ever seen in the NRL era to secure two points against the Panthers on Friday night. Penrith has lost just twice in the past 18 months.
"They're dangerous across the whole field Penrith, we've seen what they did all last year and also the start of this year," Raiders co-captain Jarrod Croker said. "They're a very young side too, they're going to be a strong team for years to come."

Star prop Dunamis Lui dropped again for Canberra Raiders and international star returns
Origin prop Dunamis Lui has been dropped for a second time in three weeks by Raiders coach Ricky Stuart, to accommodate the return of Joseph Tapine from an ankle injury.
"It's a different game right now, I need to figure that out, I need to figure out how to play my stint," Lui said. "It's just the non-stop footy. The ball's in play a lot more this year, you really feel that when you're out there.

Re: 2020 Rd 5 V Panthers: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
Think you've got the 17 right, i dont think James and Papalii would start together. Think Sia and Papalii might start, with Sutton in the #13 and Tapine and James coming off the bench. CHN as the impact middle/edge tweener.Finchy wrote: ↑April 6, 2021, 7:12 pm 1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad

Personally i'd prefer Starling over Havilii but the fact Havilii gives you impact middle minutes and provides Hodgson cover is a bit of a blind spot for me at times.

Interesting from Dunamis that he is still figuring out how to play under the new rules. Big year for him last year to battling this year. Ball in play longer is testing aerobic fitness. He is only playing limited minutes though so I wonder if there is an injury concern.
I hope Taps is 100% ready. The Panthers will spot anyone struggling in the defensive line. Really looking forward to the match.
