@the bone, Phins on the clock at 18
Re: NFL Thread
Alrighty I’m back on the clock with Miami at 18. After getting Chase at #3, I’m going to go with hometown hero Gregory Rousseau, DE from The U.

I'd take that pick too. WR and Edge are the primary needs and Phins get 2 of the best prospects in each position.

Re: NFL Thread
@Botman, with the enviable task of picking for the WFT at 19
Re: NFL Thread
Man Rousseau is tough for me. He has incredible physical tools and he had an incredible freshman year, but opted out of 2020 COVID season so it's hard for me to know if that break out year as a freshman was legit or a flash in the pan. It's a very high upside pick though, which the Dolphins can make with so many picks up their sleeves
That leaves me with the Football Team. They'd have liked to get Mac Jones here i think. I think Mac would suit what they've got going on there offensively, and Fitz is a good stop gap solution but you want the future in the building soon. They've invested in WR with Curtis Samuel and Adam Humphries so for now i'm going away from that position too. Which leaves their biggest need as replacing Trent Williams who left 2 seasons ago. Pick comes down to Tevin Jenkins or Christian Darrisaw. I think Darrisaw's experience at LT over Jenkins who played all over the OL will give him the slight advantage here
1. Jacksonville Jaguars - Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson (NR)
2. New York Jets - Zach Wilson, QB, BYU (Lucy)
3. Miami Dolphins - Ja'Marr Chase, WR, Clemson (Boney)
4. Atlanta Falcons - Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida (Botman)
5. Cincinnati Bengals - DaVonta Smith, WR, Alabama (Matt)
6. Philadelphia Eagles - Justin Fields, QB, OSU (NR)
7. Detroit Lions - Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota (Lucy)
8. Carolina Panthers -Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State (Boney)
9. Denver Broncos - Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State (Botman)
10. Dallas Cowboys - Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon (Matt)
11. New York Giants - Kwity Paye, Edge, Michigan (NR)
12. San Francisco 49ers - Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama (Lucy)
13. Los Angeles Chargers - Rashawn Slater, OL, Northwestern (Boney)
14. Minnesota Vikings - Alijah Vera-Tucker, OT, UCS (Botman)
15. New England Patriots - Mac Jones, QB, Alabama (Matt)
16. Arizona Cardinals - Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama (NR)
17. Las Vegas Raiders - Caleb Farley, CB, VT (Lucy)

Yep, good pick for Washington, I would’ve gone the same.
Chicago, I’d probably go WR, but your call to make Matt...

Re: NFL Thread
Bears are intriguing one entering the draft. WR an obvious gap and they went hard for Golladay. There QB situation is still unresolved. Picking up Andy Dalton is a stop gap starter but not exactly a long term solution. Nick Foles gamble didn't pay off. Problem is at no20 the top 5 QBs are off the board and none of the rest are 1st round prospects. They could be a genuine trade up chance and might move above NE to snap up Jones. Even further if they're really keen on one of the others.

Re: NFL Thread
Last chance saloon for Ryan Pace; he won’t get a third chance to draft a QB.
Re: NFL Thread
I’m off to bed gentleman. If we get up to #23, I’ll make the pick in about 8 hours!
Re: NFL Thread
Yeah i think the Bears are another team who are going to try and be very aggressive
the reality is for them that Ryan Pace has nothing to lose, he is getting sacked at the end of this year unless something changes drastically
So he can get very silly, give up a lot to get a QB, and if it works, he's got the QB and just has to navigate things without the draft capital, not easy but nailing the QB would keep him in a job for another year or two at least
And if it doesn't work, and the QB sucks and they've got no draft picks, that wont be his problem, he'll be out of a job
Not a good position for your organisation to be

Re: NFL Thread
Well, I know very little about the Bears, so I've referred to the experts who are mostly going OL (I have 7 different OL listed). With Darrisaw off the board, the next guy appears to be Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State.

Sorry chaps, been driving to the coast
Re: NFL Thread
Perfectly cromulant pick for the Bears given the board.
This pick to me would have come down to three players, Tevin Jenkins, Jaycee Horn and Terrance Marshall Jr. And whilst i LOVE Marhsall Jr, for me he'd be the first knocked out. Jenkins and Horn is close, i personally favour Horn myself because they've just had to let go of Kyle Fuller, but currently they could take Jenkins and play him at any spot along the OL except C and i think he'd be an upgrade

Re: NFL Thread
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/49er ... -dolphins/
The Miami Dolphins are trading the No. 3 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for the No. 12 overall pick, a third-round pick in 2022, a first-round pick in 2022 and a first-round pick in 2023, the team announced.
After that deal was completed, the Philadelphia Eagles and Dolphins agreed to a trade where the Dolphins move back up to No. 6 overall with the Eagles. The Eagles will move back to No. 12 overall and acquire Miami's first-round pick in 2022. The Eagles also surrender the No. 156 overall pick and acquire Miami's pick at No. 123 overall.

Sweet baby, Jesus
The entire draft just got flipped on its head
San Fran up into the top 3, Dolphins now back into top 6 and my eagles now sitting at 12 but with three first round picks next year

Re: NFL Thread
I have a feeling about what this move is really about for the eagles
They’ve been rumoured to be in on Watson, they just got another big assets
No giant move coming until this mess with Watson is cleaned up but I have to think this is why they’re moving back

Re: NFL Thread
Trying to get my head around it. 49ers up to 3 and giving away 2 future 1st rounders. Going all in on a QB it seems. Pheagles building a stockpile of future 1st rounders so plenty of collateral for a Watson or Wilson trade. Phins shuffle down a few spots, probably get the same player they would at 3 and get a few future picks.
Looks like QB going 1, 2, 3 now. Maybe even 4 with the Falcons

Re: NFL Thread
The phins nailed that move
Basically traded back 3 spots for a future first and yeah, they’re absolutely going to get the player they wanted there, be it Chase, Pitts, Waddle
The draft is going to go QB, QB, QB, QB, Sewell and then the Dolphins
I think the niners pick based on reporting around Jimmy g is going to be trey Lance

Potential for 1 more trade for Dolphins if Falcons pass on a QB. Panthers and Broncos would be willing to jump up. Of course Falcons could trade out of 4 as well.

Further to this. If Patriots want Jones they will have to trade up too.

Re: NFL Thread
Yep, that’s a good call on the Dolphins
Potentially could be looking at going from 6 to 8 and STILL get 1 of their 2 highest rated pass catchers
I don’t think that happens because I think the falcons will either take the qb but more likely trade out, but then as I type this is 6 too early for mac Jones? For me it is but if you think he’s your guy, then you probably have to try and make that move
We could potentially have 5 qbs go in the first 6 picks

Looking into this trade deeper, Dolphins have now parlayed the Laremy Tunsil deal into 4 x 1st, 1 x 2nd and 1 x 3rd round picks. This is Herschel Walker territory.

Re: NFL Thread
Holy **** this is wild! Lots of pressure for the Panthers to trade up now.
No way Falcons pick a QB; Matt Ryan is locked in there. But a trade down could see 4 straight QBs to start the draft. And the chances of someone reaching for Jones just increased significantly.

Re: NFL Thread
So just piecing this all together and it seems based on reporting the eagles were looking to move up to #3 but only for Zach Wilson
And as the process played out it was apparent that Wilson wouldn’t be available at 3 under any circumstances
So they moved back instead, and Miami end up at 6 where they wanted to be
And you’d have to think the niners, who have ties into that Jets org, didn’t move up to 3 without being fairly sure what was happening at 1 and 2
So it seems all but confirmed now that it’s Lawrence and Wilson at one and two and speculation can now begin on which of Lance, Fields or Jones that Kyle Shanahan is confident enough in to make this move.

Re: NFL Thread
Odd thing is this trade seems to be a win/win/win. All teams come out where they want to be and at a reasonable cost. 49ers have the biggest risk simply because there's so much riding on their top pick is has to be a good one.Botman wrote: ↑March 27, 2021, 9:12 am So just piecing this all together and it seems based on reporting the eagles were looking to move up to #3 but only for Zach Wilson

Re: NFL Thread
Yeah the moves make perfect sense for all teams
It was ultimately a three team trade
The niners give up 2 firsts and a 3rd to move from 12 to 3
The Dolphins get a first and 3rd to move back from 3 to 6
The eagles get a first round pick and move up from round 4 to 3 to move from 6 to 12
