Go Neville. Much prefer him to lazy Paulo.

Paulo knocks Costigan to the ground and it is all over in the second round. That was a real mismatch.

Why could Paulo never move with that much speed in defence.

Hannant in the ring.... and now... here comes Papa! He enters to what might be a Samoan tune, we guess. Now the national anthem. Here we go!

Papalii with a big weight advantage. Both looking very serious.

Hannant throwing a lot of shots to the body, being very aggressive in the first round. Now Papalii really lands one and Hannant staggers. Papalii probably narrowly takes the first round.

Hannant throwing a lot of punches but not many landing in the second round. Hannant now finally lands some. Papalii got some good shots in, but Hannant might have taken that round.

Papalii with some big shots in the final stages of the final round! Hannant bloodied and Papalii must have taken that round. Hannant with a lot of wild throws and Papalii with the better technique. We wait and see...

Unanimous decision for JOSH PAPALII!

Papalii edges past Polar Bear

Josh Papalii has defeated Ben Hannant by unanimous decision in a bloody battle in Townsville at All Stars Fight Night. Papalii struggled to put Hannant away, but left his fellow Queenslander bleeding after a three-round slugfest. Even Papalii admitted the result could have gone the other way.

“Mate, I’m not going to sit here and be biased,” he said. “Benny came in with three or four week’s preparation and my hat goes off to him. I’m just glad I wore the headgear.”

Papa looked a bit despondent after the fight, and told the commentators he thought Hannant might have won. Hannant threw lots of punches and was very aggressive, but a lot of them didn't connect. If the fight had gone another round, Hannant would not have survived. He was nearly knocked out in the final stages of the third round.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

No he didn’t! He went much better than expected, threw some punches but most hit Papas hands and arms.

YIKES
Big Cheese'd in a BIG spot. You hate to see it.

Boxing is not a game about punches thrown... without seeing a second of the fight, based on the commentary it seems like Hannant threw a lot and hit very little and Papalii didnt do what was expected by hit cleanly.

Loved seeing the team get together to watch the fight. Elliott Whitehead leading the chant... “I say big... you say daddy!” And then the reaction of the team when Papa won! Check out Instagram Stories.

He's lost about 30kgs since he played for us. You could see in his first game back at the eels we never had the best of his off field work.

Got him out of Sydney to get his mojo back. At least he didn't trash us out afterwards like Costigan.

I know this is all for a good cause, but I'm glad it is over for current NRL players. Now they can focus on what they do best, play rugby league. Leave it to former players or cross code clashes to generate interest, but to have this, a month out from the start of the NRL season, is lunacy from a team preparation point of view.

For the record, I'm glad Papa won and Hodges lost(again).

but ending Joey Johns career with a nice late shot will always override that

The helmets were a joke. They would throw a punch and then had to adjust them every time. They impeded the fight in a big way.
Paps landed the cleaner punches . Hannant was wild. Hannat is fit as he has competed in triathlons or marathons. One of them . Fitness was never his issue. he showed heart but that doesn't necessarily win you the fight.
Everyone talked up Paps but he hasnt got anymore experience than Hannant , just because he has a bloodline to a heavyweight champion doesnt mean it flows in him. In saying that he looked ok without being great. He wore whatever Hannant threw at him

Junior is one I think can make it as a boxer and probably Earl too with some training.

Joe Tapine backs other Canberra Raiders to follow Josh Papalii into boxing

He is a wrecking ball on the park but Joe Tapine says there might be one thing standing in the way of him following Josh Papalii into a boxing ring.

"I would have to convince the wife, she doesn't like me getting into boxing," Tapine laughed. "Big Jackie Wighton would be a good fighter, he can throw them. I think Curtis Scott is pretty good, so we've got a couple there back at Raiders who would give it a crack I reckon."
