I’m not even joking or trolling here, he honestly didn’t come across as confident, his response was basically “yeah, let’s just see how we go”
I honestly cant see this ending up in anything but a resounding KO victory for Papalii...
But who knows, maybe Hannett has a little Davey F in hidden him him somewhere

Hannant has never really struck me as the usual, arrogant footballer.

I know, but there’s a difference between being arrogant and confident and being completely unsure about the whole thing.

Canberra Raiders star Josh Papalii boosted by boxing preparation

Seeking to emulate the boxing fortitude in his family, Canberra Raiders and Queensland star Josh Papalii says he has found the right amount of balance in his training in the lead up to the 2021 season.

"Yeah, just resetting has been good. Not always thinking about footy and I think the boxing just refreshes me to come in a bit fresher than normal. The footwork is up there, the kind of footwork you need in boxing I can definitely bring that back to my training and footy game."

Yeah.
Obviously just doing it for a payday - he has a lot of children from memory. I hope he doesn't go in too underdone. There's no hiding or just going through the motions in combat sport.

Paps officially weighs in at 117kg. He looks in great shape.

A lot of the front rowers have trimmed down this year, in anticipation of the faster game.

Josh at 117-120kg should be pretty set for the season.

I had a dream that Papa and Hannant knocked each other out at the same time.

Then I had a dream that I had pecans growing under my skin and my arm was robotic.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Church, black eyes and bruises: Canberra Raiders star Josh Papalii's boxing introduction

Josh Papalii still remembers the sight of his cousin Alex Leapai turning up to church black-eyed and bruised.

"I was growing up watching him train and watching him put his body on the line for many years. I was seeing him come to church with black eyes and bruises. His old man used to box as well, many of my uncles used to box," Papalii said of the former world title challenger.

Prince is down in the first round, more a slip. Carney all over Prince. 10 kgs advantage for Carney. Carney took the first round.

Prince really has the better technique, Carney has enthusiasm and size, but Prince has probably taken the second and third rounds.

It's judged a draw, by majority. One judge scored 29-28 for Prince, concluding Prince slipped in the first round.

Craig Gower and Matt Bowen in the next fight.

Gower much heavier than Bowen at 97 kgs. Gower really aggressive, but Matt Bowen got some very good jabs in left, right and centre. Probably even in the first round.

Bit less frantic the second round, Gower looks really tired. Bowen is the more agile and getting more punches in, a lot more. Bowen wins that round, surely.

Craig Gower awarded the fight, and it is a surprise. Split points decision. Even Gower was surprised that he was awarded the fight. Next up, Sandor Earl versus Justin Hodges.

Former Raiders Sandor Earl is in the ring, he looks very confident. Now here comes Justin Hodges. Hodges has weight and reach advantage. Both the same height.

Next up is Willie Mason versus Sam Thaiday. Could there be two more unlikable former players to pit against eachother? Both in the ring now. Mason has a big height and reach advantage, Thaiday is heavier, but Mason probably a lot fitter. Will be shocked if Mason doesn't win this.

Sam Thaiday in desperate need of The Manscaper. Thaiday was carrying on like he won the fight after the bell. But Willie Mason is judged the winner. Fair result.

Josh Papalii being interviewed: Taking it pretty seriously, but no pressure from the coach really. Try and go out there, do my best and that's all I can do. I'm a bit nervous as well going in, have had to learn in the backyard.

Two former Raiders up next: Junior Paulo and Neville Costigan.
