What I don't get is Head got dropped to bring in Pucovksi. Now he's out injured wouldn't it make sense to recall Head rather than Harris who has a far inferior record?

Smith out for 36. Came from nowhere as those 2 looked set to bat the rest of the day.

He was batting with supreme confidence. Reckon it was this confidence that cost him his wicket.

5 for 215 on a road against a drastically under strength attack is not great. Green and Paine need to capitalise.

Now that they are down 2 more bowlers. If the coach isn't telling them to dig right in and wait the fatigue out, then JL needs to be fired.
Re: The Cricket Thread
Wade still being in the team is abhorrent.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Re: The Cricket Thread
We need to win this game and series.
India is moving towards a West Indies 1980s level of cricketing dominance.
It will be next to impossible to beat them in India and they may start to beat us at home more often than not.
Even with so many outs, India is pushing us this series and making us work.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Which middle order bats are pushing for Test selection? I've only really kept up with the openers this season. I suppose Harris could shift down if Pucjoski returns (or vice versa).

Re: The Cricket Thread
The match is evenly poised at the moment.
350+ on this pitch is a must. Green/Paine to put AUS in a strong position.
This 3rd string Indian side won’t go away.

Harris shouldn't be anywhere near the Test side. Avg of 22?, might be 24?, in 10 Tests, and 17-18 innings. Only passed 50 twice.

Harris
Plenty of other batsmen who have actually handled test cricket before. Head, Khawaja, Patterson, Renshaw. Even Burns is better suited down the order that the irrational notion of retaining Harris.

Paine out on 50. Made the mistake of edging it to Rohit who's the only one that can catch. Sensational outswinger from Shardul Thakur.

Score right now is below par albeit a reasonable one. Good bowling (and catching) could see us with a decent lead. The deck looks very flat although the ball has been swinging.

Head, Renshaw and Burns were all not up to it either. Usman was the only one of those who looked the part. Looks like an awful lot of shuffling the deck chairs though. Patterson hardly has a run this season.Northern Raider wrote: ↑January 16, 2021, 10:30 amHarris
