Rahane gone. Played on from Cummins. 1 wicket makes a big difference. At 2-117 it looked like India were on top. That's flipped around now.

Wade ahead of Head is an absolute joke to start with.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Critical point now. Pujara can occupy the crease for a long time and Pant will rattle up the runs if he's in for while. They could cover the deficit themselves. Knock them both over and we're into the tail.Azza wrote: ↑January 9, 2021, 11:46 amI'd say it's pretty even right now at lunch ayeNorthern Raider wrote: ↑January 9, 2021, 9:45 am Rahane gone. Re: The Cricket Thread
Give that session marginally to the Aussies. Offer them 2 for 80 odd at the start of the day and I reckon they'd take it.

Yeah although Jadeja and Ashwin are decent bats... critical they get some quick wickets.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Paine needs to get Green in the game. With bat or ball.
Give him a shot at the tail. Get that 1st wicket

That was a collapse and a half, left home at 4/180 and they're bowled out for 244 about 45mins later.
If we can get 300+ ahead it's almost certainly curtains

Re: The Cricket Thread
We are in a very strong position. And I agree with Tim..300runs(minimum) time pending of course.
Bat 2 sessions today whilst doing nothing to crazy..say 3 an over and we’ll be driving the bus.
Smudge and Labu to bury these Indians today.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Well...
Wades efforts opening earnt him the chance to retain a spot in the middle order. His last 2 innings are going a long way to rubbing out that work.
Just quietly... not hating the Maxy love ATM, BUT... that could just be more disappointment

Re: The Cricket Thread
Dropping Wade presents the same issue. You need somebody better to replace him. The only current option for them is to bring Head back in.

That's my thoughts, no point dropping for dropping sake.Northern Raider wrote:Dropping Wade presents the same issue. You need somebody better to replace him. The only current option for them is to bring Head back in.
Leave him in for Brisbane and then reassess for South Africa

Need guys like Kurtis Patterson and Matt Renshaw making plenty of runs in Shield cricket. They're both still young and done the job at Test level before.-TW- wrote: ↑January 10, 2021, 10:59 amThat's my thoughts, no point dropping for dropping sake.Northern Raider wrote:Dropping Wade presents the same issue. Nice to see Green get 50 but in the context of the game it's been way too slow.

Except as a Test player Symonds scored a lot more runs at a much better average and took more wickets at a better average. Same can be said for their First Class records too.Matt wrote: ↑January 10, 2021, 2:26 pmSimilar enough, agreedbonehead wrote: ↑January 10, 2021, 2:18 pmeveryone loved Andrew Symonds but don't want Maxwell, seems like for like to meMatt wrote:Well...

The talk about Maxy playing test cricket is the dumbest conversation going in the cricket media.

Symo avg 42 and a bit, from 227 games, 376 innings, 14477 total runs.
Maxy tick under 40, from 67 games, 112 innings, 4061 total runs.
At this avg, in the same innings, Maxy would score 13,633 runs

Context matters too. Symonds was in a team where he was really the only loose cannon. Nowadays with this generation’s attention span...Matt wrote:Similar enough, agreedbonehead wrote: ↑January 10, 2021, 2:18 pmeveryone loved Andrew Symonds but don't want Maxwell, seems like for like to meMatt wrote:Well...

Given that he's played 4 First Class matches in the last 3 years he'll need to play a long time to reach those types of numbers.Matt wrote: ↑January 10, 2021, 3:12 pm1st class.Northern Raider wrote: ↑January 10, 2021, 2:58 pmExcept as a Test player Symonds scored a lot more runs at a much better average and took more wickets at a better average.
