Re: Canberra Raiders sign young English forward Harry Rushton
I’ve got to say, I’m already really impressed with Harry. He might be a fearless young bloke, but it is a courageous thing for a young guy to do... cross the world in a pandemic, leave his family behind when he’s not even 20, spend two weeks in a hotel room by himself... and then try and forge a football career in the NRL. I’m already really impressed with what he’s prepared to do. That’s determination.
I remember moving to Canberra having just turned 21... thinking, what the hell? I’m so glad I did it, but it was tough leaving family behind and striking out by yourself.

It’s true, I moved to Sydney from Cobargo at 18. Still remember days sitting in my room wondering what I was thinking. Glad I did, and I feel like my move has made it easier for potential next-gen Fui’s to have a go.greeneyed wrote:I’ve got to say, I’m already really impressed with Harry. Props to Harry, it’s not an easy thing to do in the best of circumstances

Different circumstances, but I believe it will lead to the same result. Desire, determination and drive, Rushton's off field, to me, looks like producing a Bateman-like product for mine.greeneyed wrote: ↑November 24, 2020, 8:48 pm I’ve got to say, I’m already really impressed with Harry. I for one am sick of downplaying this kid in some sort of false humility. Let's just say it, he's a future immortal. That's been clear as day to me ever since I saw the the flourish with which he put pen to paper to sign- the power and grace inherent in his wristwork! And anyone who says otherwise is a coward. And there *will* be some, some who will say "no, let's wait until young Harry actually straps on a boot", or "but what if he can't tackle". Doubters. Cowards I say. I just hope no one puts too much expectation on him though.Matt wrote: ↑November 25, 2020, 8:25 amDifferent circumstances, but I believe it will lead to the same result. Btw Matt, the above was meant in a light hearted joke attempt, not some sort of mean sarcasm. Internet and all.

No jet lagging for Canberra Raiders young English recruit Harry Rushton
In an impressive start to his time Down Under, 19 year old Canberra Raiders recruit Harry Rushton was up at 3:30am doing weights. Jet lag's a killer hey.
"It feels weird, but my dad's been FaceTiming me 24-7, which it's good we've got that because I don't know how else he'd cope," Rushton said. "My mum and dad are doing alright. Excited for me really."

I reckon I could turn up to preseason training in better shape than Albert Kelly.

Which is not a great start when you're on a 'train and trial' contract. Can't even do the first part.bonehead wrote: ↑December 9, 2020, 9:18 amdropped from the broncos training squad to Souths Logansimo wrote:hes come back as a circle apparentlyMrPosh wrote: ↑December 9, 2020, 8:31 amIs he looking bad?Northern Raider wrote: ↑December 8, 2020, 8:24 am Trusting he comes out in better shape than Albert Kelly.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Shaun Wane's wish for ex-Wigan Warriors teen Harry Rushton
Shaun Wane admits he would have preferred Harry Rushton to prove himself in Super League before moving to Australia. But the England coach will be tracking the 19-year-old’s progress at Canberra Raiders and hoping he makes his way into the NRL.
“He’s got the opportunity now, he’s chosen to take it, and I wish him all the best. But it would have been nice to have seen him playing a few years in Super League first.
