Is it just me or did Papa not return for the last 30 mins or so?

If they're picking Wighton he needs to be in the halves or don't bother
He has zero impact at centre, mainly cause he rarely sees the ball

Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
Full marks to Qld. NSW could not build intensity or pressure because Qld wouldn't let them. Interesting that when Qld lost Munster in the second game NSW ran over them. When NSW lost their FB and Captain in Teddy they didn't have a player who took control. The sides are fairly evenly matched in the key play maker positions. Either side loses one during a match and they are on the back foot. The Cody Walker injury looked a bad one and I hope he is going to be ok. Another series win to Qld. Let the Post Mortems begin.

Is there anywhere to view the Walker injury? Really weird there was not one single replay.

Nothing said in the post match coverage saying if he was OK or not.

Had enough hearing the Ch9 commentators saying how great it was have rugby league this year after the campaign they ran to have the season canned.

Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
I am still in shock. I would have bet my house on NSW winning that series.
Mind you the scoreboard flattered NSW tonight. Another 5 mins and they probably would have won but they certainly weren’t anywhere near the better team.

Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
It wasn’t the commentators doing that. It might have been their bosses.Northern Raider wrote: ↑November 18, 2020, 10:16 pm Had enough hearing the Ch9 commentators saying how great it was have rugby league this year after the campaign they ran to have the season canned.
There were of course some who swore black and blue that we wouldn’t have crowds this year. We ended the season with 50k so clearly they were wrong but when you consider that as of tomorrow in one state of this country you can’t even leave your house to go for a walk, it wasn’t a ridiculous prediction in hindsight.
Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
I tell you one thing, the Titans have got a good’un with Tino. What a series he had.
Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
Got 44 mins in the end which is about what he got in the others. I thought Collins and Arrow were super off the bench. Add in Grant who changed the game and Su’a who gave some fresh legs late, they had much more depth whereas I thought Paulo was ok but the rest of the NSW bench didn’t offer much.Northern Raider wrote: ↑November 18, 2020, 9:47 pmHe played 2 stints earlyMickey_Raider wrote: ↑November 18, 2020, 9:40 pm Is it just me or did Papa not return for the last 30 mins or so?
Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
Saifiti and Crichton and maybe Paulo were the only NSW forwards who had anywhere near a decent game whereas all the Qld forwards had big games.
Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
This song probably sums it up again for NSW. There will never be a bigger choke that 2017 where they dominated in game 1 in Brisbane, had them on toast in Sydney with Thurston with one arm and then capitulated in game 3 but this series was an absolute shocker to lose. I don’t care who wins so can watch it objectively but line those teams up and there is no way Qld should be able to win.

Mate, I hope you are not picking the Raiders side next year.
12. Tyson Frizell 6
Tried hard but down on the performances of past years, as evidenced when stood up by Origin tyro Grant. Maybe final Origin series?
12. TYSON FRIZELL 4.5
Slipped off a tackle on Harry Grant and conceded two penalties.
Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
Yeah good job coming back to a comment made at the time in the game and trying to one up.
He was one of the more likely NSW forwards AT THE TIME the comment was made, which is still a pretty **** low bar. Did I say he was one of the best on the park for the game? **** no
He went MIA in the second half.

Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
Good contest. No great refereeing controversies, thankfully. Deserved win for the Maroons. Especially considering the tries Holmes bombed. Jack is never going to have that much impact at centre, and Gutho even less, although as it turned out, they needed a spare full-back. Munster can take much of the credit, what a top player he is.
Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
I have always felt Frizell was NSW answer to Dane Gagai - absolute superstar in origin but didn’t replicate that for club often enough. But in this series he looked well past his best. If I was a Newcastle fan I would be worried. They have paid massive money for him.Hong Kong Raider wrote: ↑November 18, 2020, 11:01 pmMate, I hope you are not picking the Raiders side next year.

Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
Speaks volumes about how poorly prepared NSW were when undoubtedly the worst QLD team I’ve seen in my lifetime, wins the series and should’ve put another 3 tries on NSW.
The omissions of David Klemmer and Wade Graham were telling. Lack of centres hurt. NSW rarely looked like a team and were very clunky.
That should be an immediate sacking for Fittler IMO.

Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
And on Tyson Frizell, he was one of NSW best.
Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
He really wasn't. Frizzell is a very good player but should not have been selected. He played 1 decent game all year. Saifiti left to do too much work and Cleary is our modern day Pearce. I would have like to see Keary and Wighton given a go in the halves and Crichton given a shot. He has been the best attacking 3/4 in the game this year, and by some margin. Haas doesn't offer anything at all.
But full credit to QLD. Despite everything I've said above, QLD won through sheer determination, they just wanted it more.

Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
NSW fan, but hard not to be happy for Queensland. They clearly wanted it more this series. A few points:
* NSW were lucky to be as close as they were. Holmes butchered a couple of fairly simple tries, and the first NSW try was pure luck.
* I know we are bias as Raiders fans, but why would you have Wighton in the centres, matching up against Brenko Lee (!) and not give him clean, early ball? Cleary and Walker just kept dying with the ball, they couldn’t get their back line involved at all.
* Fittler was completely outcoached. He had all year to think about this series, and went with a bench consisting of 3 locks and a prop forward. How Papanhuyzen didn’t get a game but Gutherson did is beyond me. The Queensland bench dominated, Harry Grant changed the game when he came on.
* Same day travel would have hurt both teams in game 2/3, we saw the effect this year in the usual season. I was surprised at the commentary game 2 - to me it was clear that Queensland had game 3 in the back of their minds throughout, plus they had to travel day of the game.

Will Freddy survive as coach? Hard to make a case for him. I know he won a couple of series but that was against Kevvie Walters.

But I'd be punting him.
Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
The moment he came up against a real coach, he was a liability. He'll get another year, because this is a weird covid year but no one in QLD is scared of Brad Fitler and his coaching prowess.Northern Raider wrote: ↑November 19, 2020, 8:00 am Will Freddy survive as coach? Hopefully, the Blues stick with Fittler.
New-age Freddy got exposed by old Origin master Wayne ... this moment shows it: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/state- ... a088b7cd8e

Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day
Should point out that Kevvie is 2-2 for series wins/losses. He benefited from having an elite team in those first couple. Fittler benefited from QLD having a much weaker squad with no Cronk, Slater, Thurston and Smith.yeh raiders wrote: ↑November 19, 2020, 8:09 am2 out of 3 ain't bad....Northern Raider wrote: ↑November 19, 2020, 8:00 am Will Freddy survive as coach? Freddy vs Kevvie as coaches. One of them has to win. This year we saw the difference a proper coach makes.
