54th min TRY MAROONS to Xavier Coates in the corner. Set up by a great run from Dane Gagai! Gagai pushes Wighton off easily. Gagai is in a mood! Daly Cherry Evans converts from the sideline!

Maroons 12-10

71st min Maroons have a great opportunity, but it just doesn't get to the hands of Gagai. Scrum NSW on their own 20m line.

72nd min Blues challenge knock on from Addo-Carr. This will fail. It has. It was the first real try scoring chance for the Blues in the second half.

MATCH REPORT: Rookie monsters: New-look Maroons conjure up Blues boilover

The underdog Maroons have done it again, with two Origin debutants scoring tries as Wayne Bennett's side stunned the Blues 18-14 in the State of Origin series opener at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday night.

NSW led 10-0 at the break but conceded three unanswered tries in the second half, and will be playing to keep the series alive when they host game two at Stadium Australia next Wednesday.

Well done Queensland. Turned up with the right attitude in the second half and show how origin is meant to be played.

Congratulations to Queensland. They outplayed NSW by making fewer errors according to my eye test. Still if ever there was a way to fire up NSW it is to lose the first game of the series. Now we'll see what Freddy and the players can do in one weeks time. Full marks to Qld though, they played a pressure game and it came off for them.

DCE and Munster had very good kicking games in the second half. Chipping it into the corners and NSW had no go forward. Klemmer would have been handy instead of Haas. But yeah, well done QLD.

Jack got owned

Didn’t feel like Origin. I wasn’t excited and as a Blues fan I’m not remotely upset going to bed. Weird
