Wow that is dodgy to take a captains challenge from a coach

Gee Panthers are good
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Why didn't the Panthers go for goal... if they were going to eventually go for field goal?
Now the Roosters score. What an error from Naden.

Same. Was hoping for a Roosters implosion but that fight back shows that they are still in the fight.

We're in for a tough game next week v Roosters should we beat Sharks.
Quality to come back like that.
Baden a goose for taking that kick off.

We have to beat the Sharks tomorrow and get an amazing grand final rematch against the roosters in a big final.
Can’t think about next week until after tomorrow’s game however. Sharks first.

I reckon Easts were a fair bit dudded last night and were, at worst, on par with Penrith. I actually think they were the better team over all.
2 of Penrith’s tries we’re pretty blatantly wrong calls from the officials imo.
Also. How many set restarts were there all game? How obvious is it that would happen.

The slowing down of the game is something that will suit us should today’s games be officiated the same.julian87 wrote:I reckon Easts were a fair bit dudded last night and were, at worst, on par with Penrith. I actually think they were the better team over all.

Which 2 tries? Roosters were charging off the 10 metres for the first 20 minutes. Wighton got sinbinned for doing it once.julian87 wrote:I reckon Easts were a fair bit dudded last night and were, at worst, on par with Penrith. I actually think they were the better team over all.

2020 NRL Finals Week 1: Teams and Game Day
I’m probably on my own here, but despite the closeness of the game I thought it lacked finals intensity. There was impressive attacking football with very few errors, but it felt to me like the defence from both sides wasn’t finals intensity. I think that will be to our detriment because Roosters have another gear in them I reckon.
Agree that Penrith were hit in the butt by the rainbow that was the refereeing - two of their tries were very suspect.
Edit - @gergreg, assuming julian has the same opinion as me. Think it was Cleary’s first try which looked to come from a knock on with the tackled player dropping it forward and it rebounding back. The second for me was that Luai was offside on his tap back.

Five. Let's not complain... we're one of the most "penalised" sides with set re-starts.julian87 wrote: ↑October 3, 2020, 7:01 am I reckon Easts were a fair bit dudded last night and were, at worst, on par with Penrith. I actually think they were the better team over all.

Re: 2020 NRL Finals Week 1: Teams and Game Day
You're not on your own. I was expecting a typical finals slugfest from two of the toughest defense's to crack. Turned out to be a fast paced shoot out punctuated by a number of defensive a errors. Normally tries are much harder to come by when the top sides clash in finals. Wasn't the case last night.gangrenous wrote: ↑October 3, 2020, 8:03 am I’m probably on my own here, but despite the closeness of the game I thought it lacked finals intensity. The one where Liam Martin (?) lost it onto his own knee and then a Roosters player? If that is the one then I agree it should have been a knock on.gangrenous wrote:I’m probably on my own here, but despite the closeness of the game I thought it lacked finals intensity. Hahaha always spins me out that Jules is younger than me and refers to them as “Easts”
That’s the sort of behaviour I usually reserve for old blokes down the pub who complain that they don’t push in scrums anymore

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Naden had a horror night all round. If Roosters got that last field goal he couldn't have found a hole big enough to crawl into.
