Lol. Ain't no one see that roll of the dice coming from Stick.

It's a solid gamble, but could be what gives us the edge over the rest.

I disagree based purely on the non-existence of 2nd tier footy this year.

How else do some of these guys get a run in case they're needed in 2 weeks?

I am fine with this team. If I was the Sharks I would've been telling them to bash the crap out of the Raiders this weekend so chance of injury / fatigue for Round 1. That's really their only chance at beating us. I like this and I still think our best chance is finishing 5th anyway.
He was the Under 20s player of the year for the Townsville Blackhawks last year. He was due to play NSW Cup / Jersey Flegg this year or at least I was pretty sure he was eligible for Under 20s again this year.

There were three of them that we recruited. Adrian Trevilyan and Brad Schnieder have also been back in Canberra. They are a year younger than Cook, were part of the Kirwan High team that won the National Schoolboys Cup last year.

Cook was listed as the "concussion substitute" for the first and what ended up being the only game that Mounties played this year.

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised.
It looks as if we’ll face the sharks two weeks running, so Ricky might be satisfied with taking a Loss in this match then beating them in week 1 of the finals at home.
It’s not without risk.

I think staying at home for the next few weeks and steeling ourselves for a few big weeks away is probably the safest option.

Sharks bashing our key players wouldn’t have been out of the question.

I dont think you as a team or fan base earn the right to complain about a team doing what they feel is best for them, because you couldnt win enough games to keep destiny in your own hands.
Once you leave it to others to help you out, i couldnt give faintest **** about how "aggrieved" you feel.
I am not saying that it is the wrong thing for the Raiders to do. I am just saying that I think it harms the integrity of the comp.

As I say, there is a clear precedent for this. It used to happen exactly like this in the AFL. The Fremantle Dockers I think left out 11 players one year. The AFL weren't comfortable with it, but the issue is all of these players probably have some sort of injury - clearly not enough to stop them playing a final but some sort of niggle, so they couldn't do anything about it. So the AFL changed the rules and had a week off before the finals. Even in this crazy season where they shortened the game and got them to play every few days, they are still having the week off this week.

It has to be a consideration going forward.

I have made a comment about Cook. Subloo has been with us in the juniors for a couple of years. Was part of Jersey Flegg last year until getting hurt with about 6 weeks to go and missing the finals. Probably not totally dissimilar to Wighton - big bodied five eigth.

its actually a bit more that that Nickman - I think Mr V'Landys who knows a bit about sports that involve betting might have something to say about it.

Wow. Can't say I've ever seen that before.

9 blokes who have hardly played a game all season. This will test their fitness.

Both Starling and Havili starting too (on paper). This could get messy by the end of the game.

No they have named Tapine, Whitehead and Wighton as reserves because we literally have no more fit players inside the bubble.

It was either them or Stuart, McFadden and White on the reserves bench.

The argument you made was that a team vying for a top 8 spot and needing a sharks loss would have an argument to feel aggrieved. Im saying they dont have that right, and they lose that right the moment they dont stack enough wins to keep their destiny in their own hands. I dont think we should be changing the structure of our competition to appease bad teams unless this became a norm in the code (which it hasnt been, in fact i dont recall seeing anything like this before) and not just a one off in a very strange sports year where Stuart can plausibly say "we have very little to play for and i need to put miles on these guys legs in case we have injuries and i need to use one of them"

As for the integrity of the game, lets start with TPA and the general salary cap loopholes that impact every game, every week, every year, and then work our way down to playing kids in dead rubber games

If this group of no names drops their bundle vs the Sharks, then the Tiges somehow beat Parra, this will have been a truly horrible decision.
