C'mon mate, we have nothing against Semi. I was just concerned (and still am) whether he's ready for matches of that intensity, given his lack of experience. The matches will be tight - most likely less than 6 points. Good to see him do well last weekend though and it was a great sight seeing one of our players run nearly the length of the field for a try.The Nickman wrote: ↑September 22, 2020, 12:41 pm Looks like all you cowards are going to have to put up with Semi for the semis.
Delicious.
BTW congrats on your pending nuptials

Re: 2020 Rd 20 V Sharks: Teams and Previews
There's no doubt that finishing in the top 4 is better than 5th (including the possibility of home ground advantage), but if we do finish 5th I reckon this is the season to do it.
If we can't beat the Sharks in week 1 we don't deserve to win the comp.
Worst case scenario for us is finishing 5th and the Bunnies beating the Roosters this weekend, meaning we'd play either Penrith or Easts in week 2.
Whatever will be will be.
If we can't beat the Sharks in week 1 we don't deserve to win the comp.

No, worst case scenario is that we all die.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑September 22, 2020, 1:34 pm There's no doubt that finishing in the top 4 is better than 5th (including the possibility of home ground advantage), but if we do finish 5th I reckon this is the season to do it.

Tom Starling will start at hooker, with Siliva Havili starting at lock and Kai O’Donnell on the bench.

We've got another Subloo debut off the bench rumour after last weeks false start.
Re: 2020 Rd 20 V Sharks: Teams and Previews
If we are resting players, I'm genuinely surprised. Fair enough if any have an injury cloud, otherwise we should be full strength IMHO. Different story if we had a top 4 spot sealed already.

I would love to be a fly on the wall at Raiders HQ today.
What is the plan here? Are we gambling that our actual second string side will be good enough to beat the Sharks? Or have we given up on the top 4? Or are we taking the gamble that Our best chance of winning it all is from 5th with a well rested team and momentum going into week 2 of the finals?

Re: 2020 Rd 20 V Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
This is what used to happen in the AFL every year. They decided to have a week off before the finals to counter it.
Might be an idea in the NRL too.
Doesn't add a lot to the integrity of the competition.
In this case our opposition can only finish 8th, but if Cronulla were playing for a finals spot, the other clubs around them would have an argument to be aggrieved.

I did say they were priming Matt Frawley to come in to the side.
Also Sam Williams goes from being out of the team all season to being the captain.

I like to think I have a decent knowledge about our lower graders, but seriously, who the hell is Adam Cook?!
I am fine with this team. If I was the Sharks I would've been telling them to bash the crap out of the Raiders this weekend so chance of injury / fatigue for Round 1. That's really their only chance at beating us. I like this and I still think our best chance is finishing 5th anyway.

Considering the fact that we are probably 75% sure to be playing the Sharks week 1 of the finals, we may also be choosing not to play our hand one week out from the finals and risk being outsmarted and having our season ended in the second leg.

I dont think you as a team or fan base earn the right to complain about a team doing what they feel is best for them, because you couldnt win enough games to keep destiny in your own hands.
Once you leave it to others to help you out, i couldnt give faintest **** about how "aggrieved" you feel.

That's a new first. I doubt a player has ever come into the team and be captain for one game after not being picked all year. Congrats Sammy.
