NRL.com power rankings
4. Canberra Raiders (4)
As I said last week, I underestimated Canberra's grit in big games. They were under duress against the Warriors and still came out on top. The Raiders are a whisker off the top three.

Annesley briefing to start at 2:00pm. Should be interesting, this one: https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/09/21/gra ... -round-19/

Graham Annesley explaining why Jack Wighton was offside (very marginally) yesterday. No problems with the explanation but if that is the standard of the ball clearing the ruck then you need to enforce it everywhere on the field not just on the goal line.
Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Warriors: Game Day
I disagree with his choice of the point where the ball cleared the ruck. I also fail to understand why the standard in this game is three penalties in a row for a sin binning, when there have been many, many, many games where that has not happened.Green Blogger wrote: ↑September 21, 2020, 2:20 pm Graham Annesley explaining why Jack Wighton was offside (very marginally) yesterday. Can somebody please show me some frames? I didn't see a good replay yesterday.
Either way, the Raiders were carrying on with a lot of nonsense in that period where Croker was off the field and the referees were deserved in being annoyed at them.

Of course, Annesley is saying the bunker call of tackle in the air on Croker, which went against the Warriors, is wrong.

And we've seen Croker penalised for a clean contest that ended up with the opponent upside down before, too.

I thought it was ironic that Annesley said "if we look at it at normal speed..."The Nickman wrote: ↑September 21, 2020, 2:37 pmI thought they got that right too. It was as marginal as can be, but his arm wrapped around Croker for a milli-second.
The whole point of the bunker is so that it could to scrutinise play frame by frame
You can't just pick and choose when certain decisions should be made at normal speed just to suit your agenda.
How many tries have been disallowed because they analyses the footage frame by frame and found the slightest separation.
To make things worse, when discussing the Wighton sin-bin/offside incident, he mentioned "we are talking fractions of seconds here, but fractions of seconds can make a big difference..."
As usual, the NRL is consistent with the inconsistencies.
I'm sure we all remember Reuben Garrick intercept try last year. Both were 'marginally' offisde.... funny how resulted in an 8-point try while the other resulted in 10 min in the sin-bin.

How come Young didn’t get selected?
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.
