Canberra Raiders announce Canberra Milk as new major sponsor for 2021
Canberra Milk ups the sponsorship talk with Canberra Raiders ahead of NRL finals
People power had Canberra Milk locked in talks today at Raiders HQ about returning as the Canberra Raiders' major sponsor, with a deal potentially locked away before the NRL finals.
But it's unlikely to be a long-term deal, with the company considering stepping up from their current position as second major sponsor in the Raiders' time of need.

I thought it a bit amusing that Canberra Milk asked on Instagram how long people have been saying “Up the Milk”. No doubt disappointed to find out, 12 months, after an online satirical article.

Surely they recognise exactly how many jerseys they would sell? A modern jersey with the Canberra Milk logo? They'd sell like hotcakes! I'd buy one the minute they went on sale.

Two things certain in life.
1. There are more than two things certain in life.
2. Raiders fans are weird.
3. Milk Jerseys would be the must have item of the century.
4. I love Toots.

People have been saying it for ages, it's something I've heard at Bruce since about 2015. It definitely blew up after the Betoota article though. On instagram the first hash tag with it is from 2016..

..It's a good, endearing nickname, you seem to have real beef with it?
Re: Canberra Milk ups the talk with Canberra Raiders ahead of NRL finals
Having looked at that link, it seems to have originally had nothing to do with the Raiders... and there seem to be less than a handful of references relating to the Raiders before 2019 on Instagram. On Twitter, one person (who seems to be a fantastic Raiders fan) used the hashtag from 2017 up to the time of the Betoota article.Robert the Bruce wrote: ↑September 18, 2020, 12:05 amPeople have been saying it for ages, it's something I've heard at Bruce since about 2015. I can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone say it before 2019. I’ve been following the Raiders since 1982... and have watched social media pretty closely for the past 15 years.
I don’t have a “real beef” with it. But it’s not the name of the team. I would say I find it slightly irritating. But not more than that.
Playing “Highway to Hell” instead of the club song... that’s something I had a real beef with.
I’m very fond of Canberra Milk as a long term sponsor and the iconic 94 jersey. I’ve been very fond of Raiders Lime. They’ve been an incredible sponsor. I also understand why Canberra Milk would be thrilled to be considered so synonymous with the team that people have started calling the team after their product. But I won’t be joining in with calling our team after a commercial product.

Originally had nothing to do with The Raiders? It's a bunch of guys in Raiders jerseys at a Raiders game? And less than a handful of references sure, but it without a doubt did not originate from Betoota, if it did, i'd get your irritation that it caught on.
And yeah it is a commercial product, but it's a local Milk company, and one synonymous with the club and the Canberra community, they go hand in hand with each other.
Any nickname or slogan, that isn't negative (Faiders) is great for the club. It's popularity just goes to show how far we've come in returning this team to endearment amongst, well everyone really.

I was just saying that the first use of the hashtag had nothing to do with the Raiders... both on Instagram and on Twitter. I don’t see anything there that suggests more than a few Raiders fans used the term before the satirical article.
I find the term irritating because it replaces our city, our team name with the name of a commercial product. I don’t find that endearing, really. But each to their own, I guess.

Canberra Milk become major sponsors of Canberra Raiders in 2021
The Canberra Raiders are pleased to announce that foundation sponsor, Canberra Milk, has agreed to reconfigure their partnership agreement with the Club so that two of the regions most iconic brands will be front and centre during season 2021.
Following the recent announcement that Huawei was vacating the front of jersey position on the Raiders jersey in 2021, and given the short time frame between the current season and next to secure a new Principal Sponsor, personnel have re-negotiated a new agreement that will see the Canberra Milk brand return to the front of Raiders jersey in what is a milestone year.
Managing Director of Capitol Chilled Foods Australia, Steve Ness explained the attraction of moving back to the Canberra Milk brand on front of jersey for the next 12 months, “The Milk Authority of the ACT was established in 1971 so next year is our 50th anniversary, what better way to celebrate this than by returning our flagship brand Canberra Milk to the front of jersey of Canberra’s premier sporting team”.
It is highly likely that the Raiders will secure a new Principal Sponsor for season 2022 onwards, with negotiations with interested parties already taking place, however Raiders CEO Don Furner expressed his gratitude to Canberra Milk so that the Club could move forward quickly with next season planning, in particular the Club’s 2021 retail program which rolls out in the next couple of months ahead of the Christmas trade period. “Since 1982 we have enjoyed a solid partnership with Canberra Milk which at all times has been based on mutual benefit, I have no doubt the 2021 jerseys and training apparel are going to be very well received by our members and fans”.
Beyond season 2021, Capitol Chilled Foods Australia will determine which of their brands will be exposed on the jersey and training apparel sleeve.
Ricky Stuart, Canberra Raiders Head Coach said:
“Next seasons apparel range is superb, when I heard about the discussions taking place and saw the garment artwork featuring the Canberra Milk logo, it brought a smile to my face. It brings back some great memories”.
During almost four decades of association with the Canberra Raiders, Capitol Chilled Foods Australia have exposed three prominent brands on the Club’s playing strip – Bega Cheese, Canberra Milk and Dare Iced Coffee.
