Well that was disappointing. Until this team learns to score points we’re going to have a very short finals campaign, I fear

Some better signs... hopefully a sign we're not so far from the pack as I thought

I like how Soward, the NRL "power ranking" expert, picked the Dragons.

Over the Ramsay wank fest. He caught the ball and fell over twice.

Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
We need to get rid of those first halves, concentrate on getting some attack back through our backline and not sure on Valamei, the win was expected and there was some nice tries, but its going to need to be better to go deep into the finals.
One day the Raiders and the Cats win the same year and make my head explode!!
Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
We looked a lot better in the second half. Some good plays.
Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
Valemei pretty good in second half. Good on him. His corner was the one looking into the sun too, so he had lots to do.
Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
Good second half, pretty crap first half
Will take it though, Parra has the wobbles top 4 alive

Really happy for Hudson-Young. Awesome some great leadership from Croker to steer the team to victory.

Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
Some nice hands in those tries and really engaged the opposition forcing them into errors. There is still in the side but sometimes we just move from side to side

Well I have been rooting for the Broncos to get the wooden spoon for weeks now. Not anymore. Hope they play themselves into form against the Titans this afternoon and then do Parramatta next week!
Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
Watching a reply of Jack's second try. I mentioned it earlier but worth saying again. Pass from dummy half sublime. It makes the play.
Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
Yeah credit to him for not dropping his head and getting it together
That’s a good sign for a young guy but I’d still rather him not play... don’t think he’s quite ready for it
Maybe after an uninterrupted pre season he’s in the mix to replace Cotric

Wighton is the best 6 in the game.

Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
Agreed. Just like Wests, Nth Qld, Canterbury, and Brisbane games - v inferior opposition. I don't understand why we always start slow and concede the first try. We can't do that in the semis
Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
I think we can beat anyone but wouldn't go into matches favourites against the best sides because we just lack the finesse of the top sides. We do have a lot of heart though.
Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
Yeah it's a play to not boot the ball into the stand and give away 7 tackles.
Hodgson did them as well

Cheering for Titans today so Brisbane play their game of the season next week when spoon is still possible. Canterbury cannot win 2 games.Ilanraiders wrote: ↑September 12, 2020, 5:02 pmSame same!!!Green Blogger wrote: ↑September 12, 2020, 4:59 pm Well I have been rooting for the Broncos to get the wooden spoon for weeks now. Seems like we've worked on some attacking plays during the week.. double pump to wighton from Williams was my fav.. but can we execute this attack against good defense.

That was my favourite one too. Love it when our halves link up.radicalraider wrote: ↑September 12, 2020, 5:11 pm Seems like we've worked on some attacking plays during the week.. double pump to wighton from Williams was my fav.. but can we execute this attack against good defense.

He might also remember the time he got legally murdered by Wighton.Hong Kong Raider wrote: ↑September 12, 2020, 5:06 pmHe was the only one. He never picks us so I asked the forum was there any history with Ricky. GE said he used to play with us in the juniors !
I still maintain it was legal. Six referees at the ground agreed. It was only a suspension because he hit Soward.

I'm attacking in the right way, instead of just...attacking in the general direction. - Max Aaron (also eerily apropos for the Green Machine)

Re: 2020 Rd 18 V Dragons: Game Day
Very happy to collect the two competition points. Great to see some multiple passing across the line. Havili passing from right to left from dummy half was fantastic as were some of his dummy half runs and the dummy half kick. My highlight though was Jack absolutely schooling Frizell in defence. Jack gave him no room to move and nailed him so many times one on one. The Papa one on one tackle on McGuiness was a bone rattler. Both Papa and Tapine combined to shut down the Dragons. There were a few gang tackles from the boys today but I want to see more particularly on the first and second tackles of each set.
This game was about getting some attacking and defensive combinations going leading into the finals. I think they did that. Two more matches to go in the premiership rounds against the improved Warriors and then away against a side which always gives us a tough game, the Sharks. A good lead into the finals.

MATCH REPORT: Canberra Raiders take sword and slice St George Illawarra Dragons' belly
The Canberra Raiders took a sword to the Dragons' soft underbelly as they repeatedly cut open St George Illawarra's middle. But more importantly Josh Papalii's AC joint got through unscathed in the Raiders' 37-8 victory at Wollongong on Saturday.
It keeps the Green Machine in touch with the top four with two rounds remaining before the finals - the first time the Raiders will play back-to-back finals campaigns since 2004.
CANBERRA RAIDERS 37 (Jack Wighton 2, Hudson Young, Jarrod Croker, John Bateman, Semi Valemei tries; Croker 6 goals; George Williams field goal) bt ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS 8 (Cody Ramsey 2 tries) at Wollongong. Referee: Adam Gee and Matt Cecchin
