All the CRRL teams are “aligned” to the Raiders as it’s their local district. The CRRL/CDRL used to be based at the Queanbeyan Leagues Club... and it’s now based at Raiders HQ at Braddon. They’re on the Raiders email system, the Raiders media team cover Canberra Raiders Cup. The CRRL has a separate Committee and CEO but the operations are heavily intertwined with the Raiders and funding comes from the Raiders Group.
The ultimate controlling entity of the QLC, and therefore the Raiders Group and the Raiders, is the Queanbeyan Blues. The Raiders Group fund the Blues and send sponsorship funding to a number of clubs... eg Raiders Gungahlin to the Bulls, Raiders Belconnen to the Warriors, and the Mawson Club to the Rams. Some clubs are more clearly independent operations, eg the Roos have their own substantial leagues club. But the Raiders share out their own juniors who are not required on any given week or weeks to all the clubs. And lots of the Raiders juniors come through the CRRL clubs.
Monaro and Riverina junior reps teams are also aligned to the Raiders, with the Raiders investing in their development squads.
So it’s very similar to Sydney... with Ron Massey and Sydney Shield teams part of the NRL clubs’ districts and aligned to them.
If the Raiders had their own NSW Cup team, it would have to be funded by the Raiders Group of licensed clubs... but there’d be a pathway to that team from all the CRRL clubs.
