Any penalty is challengable... but teams probably do save them for the end.

Especially when if any part of Soliola had vaguely glanced the head they wouldn’t have overruled. Was too risky.Botman wrote:No it was a high contact call live. Sia was put on report for it. Would have not been called at if not called live, but once it's called live, you cant put the paste back on the tube (though the idea of a challenge was raised i dont know if this is challengable, though i suspect 4 minutes into the game a pen inside the 20 is not a pen you will ever really challenge)bonehead wrote: ↑June 24, 2020, 9:55 pmas I said, literally turned it on, saw a replay of him slipping, sia going over the top and then penalty on with the game. Thankfully, MERCIFULLY i am here to remind people of the context.

Still waiting for Ben Cummins to control his next Raiders match..
Probably next week, back at Bruce v Dragons.
It's like the NRL are keeping Cummins and Raiders apart.

Sia's knee hit the ball and the ball hit his head.

Re: Referees versus Raiders
If the coaching team sees the replay that it was clearly the wrong decision we should appeal regardless of game time.
Imo if it is clear the refs are wrong that is when you should challenge.
Also I’m pretty sure he dropped the ball before the whistle blew so we may have Had an attacking set 20 metres out.

Re: Referees versus Raiders
Looked like he slipped coming into the tackle when I watched it live.
I’ve also seen the video ref give a heads up to the onfield ref in this situation. That has previously caused the ref to reverse his decision.

There’s a time limit on challenges, by the time the coaches have seen a replay I think the ship has sailed.papabear wrote:If the coaching team sees the replay that it was clearly the wrong decision we should appeal regardless of game time.

The reverse of the Cleary one last night. Murray wanted to crush that face boil the poor bugger has got himself.
Re: Referees versus Raiders
This week we have Matt Cecchin. Matt has a rating of -1.02913 which is just on the negative side. This is the first time we've had Matt this year. Last year we had 3 wins and 2 losses, so the negative results come from previous years. Hopefully we get a consistent and free flowing game from Matt this week.

This week we have Grant Atkins again. Grant has a rating of 2.47 which is strongly on the Raiders side.
He has officiated us twice this year for a win (Storm) and a loss (Sea Eagles)

Cummins isn’t bad, if you include reversals...

This week we have Ashley Klein. Ashley is currently at -1.58 which isn't pretty for us. This year we've had two losses under him vs Knights and Eels. Not looking good at this stage

Klein? Bugger. I’m gonna need more booze
Re: Referees versus Raiders
You've got your wish. This week we have Ben Cummins. We have not had Ben this year. Last year we had a 2 wins/2 losses record, with the grand final unfortunately being one of those losses. Ben has a current rating of -1.33 which doesn't bode well.
Let's see how Mr six again goes. I don't think it's a coincidence that he is presiding over an away game for us. I'm not sure he'd be willing to show his face at a home game any time soon. He certainly hasn't done one of his yearly appearances at referee training this year, but that's probably more to do with COVID-19.
Re: Referees versus Raiders
Well, we had a win with Cummins against the Cowboys, and then a loss with Gerard Sutton against the Panthers
This week with have Chris Sutton again. So far this year, Chris has officiated the Raiders three times (Titans, Warriors and Tigers) with three wins for the Raiders. Chris has a positive 2.112 for the Green Machine which is very encouraging. Let's see how he goes on Saturday night.

This week we have Chris Butler. We have not has Chris as the referee this year. Last year we were 1 win and 1 loss.
He has a rating of -1.839 which is not in our favour. Let's hope for a consistent game.

Re: Referees versus Raiders
Surely the sample sizes of games with each ref are too small to be meaningful?
I've always been suss of Ben Cummins, I feel like he overcompensates as an ex Raiders fan.
But I don't recall any game this year where I feel we were shafted... maybe that's due to the set restart rule minimising the effect of ref ruck mistakes, or maybe captain's challenge, maybe a bit of both

Last week was probably the worst performance against us, and we still won by plenty

Who cares who the ref is anyway. The good teams win regardless.

Storm game was worst this year imo
Referees versus Raiders
Yep, eels had a lot of luck in a lot of calls in a game where they really didn’t play well at all.gangrenous wrote:Storm game was worst this year imo
I thought the sin binning was harsh but plenty would disagree.
Edit: or did you mean our game against the storm?

Re: Referees versus Raiders
Yeah I was meaning out of Raiders games. The sin binning of Simo was a shocker.
I don’t think Raiders have had the worst refereed games overall this year for the NRL.

Re: Referees versus Raiders
This week we have Chris Butler again. We've only had Chris for one game this year which was last week for a win. This has moved his rating to -1.051 which is extremely close to level.
Re: Referees versus Raiders
This week we have Gerard Sutton. Gerard has a rating of -1.207 which is on the wrong side of the ledger for us. This year Gerard has officiated us twice. Once against the Roosters for a win and once against the Panthers for a loss. Let's not forget the Grand Final where he reportedly overruled Cummins's alleged 6 again call.
Re: Referees versus Raiders
This week we have Adam Gee. This will be the first time we've had Adam this year. Adam has a Turt rating of -1.025 which is just on the wrong side of the Raiders, but close. Let's home for a fair game from him.
Re: Referees versus Raiders
Last week we had the rare situation where the referee had to be replaced. Adam Gee did not come back after half time
This week we have Chris Sutton again. This will be the 5th time for Chris officiating over a Raiders game. Previous games include wins for the Raiders against Titans, Warriors, Tigers and Broncos. Let's home we make that 5 wins. Chris has a very favourable Turt rating of 2.592 which bodes very well for us.
