The potential he could add as their 4th bench player is monumental imo.

I understand where you're coming from but I don't see it that way. Consider Roosters at full strength. They will always carry Lam as backup for Friend. Liu and Collins will form the middle rotation, which SBW won't be part of. That leave Tupouniua as the 4th bench player. How much more will SBW give them than Tupouniua?

Friend
SST
Cordner

Liu

Aubusson
Collins
Topu
SBW (in for Butcher)

Lam will be replaced by Aubbo at full strength imo.

They won't go into a game without cover for Friend. He's had too many injury issues recently. With both Radley and Verrills out they're compelled to include Lam, even though he's not a hooker.

Butcher or Liu will be starting 13 (unless they start Collins again). The other will be on the bench as a middle forward. I agree SBW is potentially and upgrade on Butcher, who I don't really rate. Caveat is SBW not stinking it up like he did at the Wolfpack.

Aubo doesn't make the team at full strength, which in itself is quite bizarre. He would walk into just about any other team.

Unless SBW is willing to forgo his Toronto contract, he shouldnt allowed to come back

if he is, and he does... the competition is a wrap imo

I'm willing to knock a champion in this case. Can't see this helping the Roosters on the field.

I see the NRL have decided SBW is worth 400k per year in the NRL. That seems to gel neatly with the Roosters paying him about 150k for an end of season cameo doesn’t it?

that seems about right, he'll only play 9 games maximum for a guy on the wrong side of 30 out of the nrl for 4yrs? played what 5 games of esl and was terrible

Do you really think that if SBW went to an open auction for all NRL clubs then the winning bid would be only $400k for the season?

The bloke wouldn’t be interested in playing for anyone else.

Luckily Australian sport isn’t like American sport where the player just goes where they’re told.

So has SBW been valued around the same as Rapana after his Japan Rigby stint?

He's a greedy toad..

I'm surprised he's not getting $400k every game..

According to an in depth article in the Daily Telegraph on player salaries, Raiders players like Havilli, Lui, Hors, Guler are all on less than $300k a season. We certainly manage our cap better than we did in the old days.

That sounds about right for when they were signed. Lui took a slight paycut when he resigned last time.

Guler was extended in late 2018 before he was a real regular FGer. I'd guess Hors' situation is similar.

Havilii is a good player but probably not the kind of guy clubs try to lure with $400k offers- must clubs prefer to develop/makeshift their own utility and it's not a position most throw money at.

Still the biggest sport in the country. And we were talking about player movements and a draft.

That might be because of fifita leaving. Id imagine we now have little chance of retaining him next year. Brisbane would of Frantically been negotiating with his manager to keep him.

I agree! I think two years is good too. Gives him plenty of time to settle in and find some form after coming back from injuries.

I think he also came to us because he wants to try and win a premiership. Seems like a pretty competitive dude in that way.
