Tigers would be mad not to put an offer to Vaughan.

I'd 100% welcome him back.
He'd give us more punch along with Papalii upfront and allow the younger guys to take their time with development.
He fits our timeline perfectly.

For a split second I thought this thread said said Nick Cotric signs to end 2023...

So disappointed once my dyslexic moment passed.

Huge difference in his playing weights - looks very trim there, as opposed to imitating a blimp this season.

Also highlights the considerable amount of pace Rapana has lost. Forgot how quick he used to be.

Rapana is here because even though he has lost pace, he is still an extremely solid winger and rarely a weak link on the field, if ever.

D'ya reckon Stickys good mate Bellamy set him up with this signing?

He might have given Scott a glowing report and Sticky said 'Thanks mate'. It's a good "gotcha" between friends.

Yea Rapa is now a solid NRL winger. No better. But will have his tackling, kick defusing and effort runs on point. He will not crack just from pressure. He just lacks cutting edge. If there is a renaissance in him- I'd love it. But right now it's neck and neck between him and Simo with the graph lines trending cross...

Fair dinkum, the bagging of Scott is too much. Does anybody remember when Rapana first got here he had handling issues and was even nicknamed 'EDIT Fingers' by some? Now he's one of the first blokes picked.

I get that we're all desperate for another GF, and want to win it. Things aren't going great, and it seems we've found a scapegoat. But the guy is playing outside a new halfback, and the regular second-rower is absent. Everything is unsettled at the moment. I agree the bloke needs an off-season strapped to the squat rack, and to cut the dumb **** out off the field. He's trying too hard, and is good for a dropped ball and a missed tackle at the moment, but I reckon he'll come good in time.

Nobody wanted to drop charnze

The regular early dropped ball was a killer...

Although oldfield looked off the pace hopefully Rapana is back next week.

He's had a bad start in green, but he also had a court case hanging over his head all off season (which still isn't resolved).

The way some people are talking he is the sole reason we've lost any games this season. I get that people feel the need to have a scapegoat to blame loses for, but he isn't to blame for our sputtering attack, or unforced errors.

Scott is not the sole reason we've been playing poorly...I don't think anyone has said that have they?

Scott is however, regularly ******* the bed every time any shape comes at him, misses one on one tackles for fun, and makes handling errors with monotonous regularity, often early in the game when we're in the arm-wrestle. That's not good enough for a first grade NRL centre.

Oldfield wasn't great last night, but we still felt far safer in defense than when Scott was there.

But if you go back and look at the posts from the time, Rapana had plenty of defenders (me being one) who noted that he was making yards, busting tackles for fun and that once he got fit and over his nerves we thought he'd be a weapon. It was clear he could play, he looked bloody dangerous with the ball and was having the deepest of digs. Scott shows nothing with the ball and has started shuffling the ball aimlessly back to the guy who passed it to him to avoid the hit up... He's shot.

Rapana made errors in amongst creating a lot. Like BadnMean I was always for Raps.

Scott on the other hand is making errors creating nothing. I suspect we may in fact have picked up an extra win without him at centre.

My word, so much this!

Rapana made errors, but his effort was always a cut above the others around him. And especially after he MADE an error - he would be in there looking for the footy to take the next hit up even harder. I think a lot of that early criticism was a function of him trying too hard, but from a fan’s perspective that’s easily the most forgiveable of all the sins.

To this day, you can still see how much white line fever the guy has... he will perennially be one of my favourite players based on just his energy and passion alone.

Scott on the other hand - shows none of this. Time to punt him

Yeah Rapana always ripped in. There were a few that were harsh on him in his early days but I reckon even they saw his potential.

Scott on the other hand does do a reasonable job of getting involved but he has looked really weak in contact. He also hasn't shown much ability to set up his outside man. That's the key difference for me - nothing about Scott screams potential.

I sort of liked him off the bench last night. Of course, difficult to measure his full impact in a game where we were ruined by injury. But he did seem to have more of an impact. I think we should try him in the 14 for a while, maybe he picks up some confidence.

He's had a pretty average start, but I'd like to see him given a shot with a settled team, in a non-Covid disrupted year, with an off season in the gym and no (self-inflicted, granted) court case hanging over his head. If he's still having a shocker, then I'll get on board.
