Appropriately getting stuck into the Sea Eagles players two nights in a row. What are they thinking over at Brookvale?

Tonight, we have the first ever NRL game in front of a game played in front of no crowd. Cowboys on the field, now the Bulldogs. There was some applause from officials and staff as the players ran out, but it is a little eerie. Digital signage is plastered all over the seats, where possible. Cowboys kick off, we are underway.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

13th min TRY COWBOYS to Coen Hess, good pass from Michael Morgan, and Hess shrugs off the tackle of Lachlan Lewis, easily. Lewis forced to attempt to tackle him alone. No goal from Holmes. Is someone actually a "New York Jet" if they never played an actual game?!

They do need to add more to the soundtrack, and create more noise at the ground itself, music, whatever, but something is needed.

North Queensland Cowboys 24
Canterbury Bulldogs 16

FULL TIME

MATCH REPORT: Taumalolo leads Cowboys past Bulldogs as NRL's silent era begins

Jason Taumalolo was immense and Valentine Holmes much-improved as the North Queensland Cowboys atoned for their stadium-opening flop against the Broncos in round one with a dominant 24-16 victory over a butter-fingered Bulldogs side on Thursday night at an empty ANZ Stadium.

Lewis is too patchy for NRL level. His kicking really irritates me. Sure he takes his time and it's generally a good kick but all the chasers have to stand there waiting for him to kick, or they're offside.

I think DWZ is okay but is expected to do too much and he does have a few too many errors in his game. Marshall-king is also barely a pass but that Foran deal is one of the worst in NRL history and a big problem with this club.
