These are the proposed changes / key points based on the feedback during the season and to start discussion. Let me know of any strong preferences.

- Squads reduced from 26 to 22?
- Kicker points to be reduced from 10 to 6? The other option is to use the team kicker option so you pick a team and not a player that will cover all your kicking
- Keepers will stay at 6
- Draft [icks will be the reverse of the ladder

If we sort this stuff out I would propose to start the draft after the first week of real trials

Kicker points need to be minimum 10.

We had it at 15 last year.

10 allows only one first choice kicker per CEO team.

Got it, for some reason I had thought it was 10. We will go with 10.

Too easy. Most first choice kickers are 7 or 8 points

I wouldn't mind the team kicker option for purely selfish reasons. I lost so many close games last year because I didn't have a decent kicker. I think I had Esan Masters, Jordan Kahu and DCE and they all let me down.

That’s another reason why reducing to ten is good.
Means that no one team can have two first choice kickers. With only 12 CEO teams, that means there will
Be options if any kicker Goes down.

NRL CEO Competition

Post by summitone77 »

There are two additional point categories coming in this year.

We need to decide if we want them.
1. Try assists are currently set at 2. The new system allows 3 points for Try assists for halves, and 2 for everyone else. This is to bring the halves into line with the higher scoring backs and forwards.
2. Repeat sets. This is one point for anyone that forced a drop out /repeat set.

These updates are outlined in the CEO Bible that goes on sale 26th Jan on the NRLCEO site.

For those who haven’t seen this before, do yourself a favour and grab a copy...it will be invaluable for you pre-draft.
An excel sheet with a breakdown of every player will also be available.

Will there be points for one-on-one steals? I think there should be if there isn't already.

NRL CEO Competition

Post by summitone77 »

There isn’t at this stage. Doesn’t mean that they will not come in the future.

It has to be a stat that can be monitored and reported on from the stats provider. If they start recording it, then we may also be able to introduce it.

I think we should bring both in as it will mix things up a bit more.

I bought the bible last year and results speak for themselves :P

My poor decision to choose Ryan James as number 1 draft pick last year just keeps on compounding

Season start is almost here.
We need to lock in a few things...
Dates for declaring your 6 keepers and a start date for the draft??
We also need to decide on the KP (kicker points) and squad size. Last we discussed was reduce to 22 squad size and reduce the KP.
I think 22 is perfect for squad size, and i think KP should be between 10 and 13. 10 will allow one first choice kicker only, and some third string kickers. 13 will give chance for one first choice and a possible second string kicker/multiple 3rd string kickers.
22 and 13 seem to be a common set up around the leagues, but that's for 8 team comps, where talent is a little more accessible.
We need to make sure everyone ha the opportunity to pick up a first choice kicker, especially if one gets injured. For that, i would suggest 12 KP.
What do you guys think??

Ok, I will make those changes when I set it up.

Sherrif - should I create a new competition under the GH Championship or reset the previous one? It gives me the option to just reset.

Also for keepers is there a way to manage this or it's a case of manually updating the squads pre-draft?

The best way is to redo the league and keep teams.
We then should be able to each delete all but the 6 keepers we want. If we can’t do it, then you will need to do it as the league boss.

There is a possibility that it will cost $10 each. The site covered it last year, but not sure if they will do it again. We will have to clarify with @Ferret86

What date did we want to look to kick the draft off?

Re: NRL CEO Competition

Post by edwahu »

I was thinking after the second week of trials, so 2 weeks before kick off. That will give a good indication of potential cheapies.

I think with only 16 players apart from keepers we should get through it relatively quickly.

I'm all good with the $10 from my side as well.

Sounds good. I am happy for the $10 as well. Doesn’t need to be paid straight away. I think it is round 4 it needs to be paid by or you can’t change your team/score points

Once all the amended scoring is set up, we should open it up the comp to allow people to select their keepers. Maybe a week before the draft?

Finally got online long enough to reset the comp and make those rule changes. Can people try and delete all but their keepers?

If you can't let me know your 6 and I will do it before the draft.

Also let me know if you're ok with the $10 to cover the premium features we got free last year.

When do we need to do this by? I’ve done my six, my other half is still deciding! I had a lot of duds in my squad so it wasn’t a hard decision! We are both happy to pay $10 (Golden Points and The Gum Drops).

My partner has about 8 players from last year that either retired, moved to super league or to rugby union. Add the players that had kicker points tacked on this year, and she didn’t have a great deal to choose from!

I think we are looking sometime this week or early next week at the latest
