Wow I can’t believe I only have to drive 10 minutes to watch the boys play! I know it is only a trial but I am very happy to welcome the premiers to our town. I know Rapana spend quite a bit of time here.

Better than Wagga actually. Probably no hill on the other side though.

Actually, could be a small one on the other side: https://www.austadiums.com/stadiums/stadiums.php?id=166

Or not... hard to tell.

The Grandstand is WAY better than Wagga by the looks.

Grass hill runs right around North, South and Eastern side of the ground. Surface is generally fine, watched plenty of rugby league and soccer grand finals and pre season games there.

There’s normally only one big canteen amenity during group games or grand finals but I’m sure they’d bring in other vendors to set up (there’s an adjoining field #2 behind the grandstand) so there’s plenty of room.

It’s not in the heart of the town, it’s on the drive in from the highway, so it’s not really walking distance from anywhere you want to be in Port.

I'm already looking forward to this trial being a clear indicator of how our season will go. As is tradition.

One thing we’ve learned this year is that taking trials seriously is one foundation for a good season. As I’ve always maintained. ;)

IMO I think the Dogs will be a top 8 side next year (if not top 4). They would have been dangerous in the finals this year even.

Should finish somewhere between 7th and 16th.

They're pretty ordinary. Leilua may get them in the 8.

Same team that beat the Tigers
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

They said on their website before a Christmas they’d announce it on their site in the New Year. Nothing yet.

Port Macquarie to host Canberra Raiders and Canterbury Bulldogs in NRL pre-season trial

Canterbury Bulldogs coach Dean Pay says his team will be taking their trial match against the Canberra Raiders in Port Macquarie "real seriously". It will be the Bulldogs' final hitout before they open their campaign against Parramatta at Western Sydney Stadium on March 12.

"It's going to be our last trial so we'll take the majority of our team to Port Macquarie that will play in round one. We need a really good, decent hitout up there so we're taking it real seriously."
