9s team plays with 9, 13 plays with 13. 9s get bonus tries and have to drop-kick their conversions, 13s don't.

I’ll admit his sarcastic responses aren’t as nearly as humorous as when he’s try to be make a serious comment but I still got a giggle. Re: Perth Nines - Which Raiders legend would you like to see come back?
The solution to this tourney is to get outside the box with how the teams are formed that is commercially viable in a dead period of aussie sports (DRAFT... DRAFT... **** live TV draft ****, auction draft it if you must!), that allows the player group some freedom of expression (including team names, logos, marketing, jerseys etc) and the back the all the revenue that comes off that, and i promise you, it would be SUBSTANCIAL, offer LEGIT rewards... for a sqaud 16, as per this year, i think you need a pot where a member of the winning squad is taking home 300k each..
If you cant do those things, and maybe commerically it's not possible... then AFIAC, the tourny is not viable. You'll move the venue, it'll die, it'll come back 2-3 years later and we'll do it all again., but the key to making it a proper fixture is IMO to embrace the unconventional

I like the cut of your gib. Each player in the winning squad takes 1.768 points back for their team to start each match with, this aggregates for teams with multiple players. Any players that win the the 9s and NRL in the same series are automatic Kangaroos. MotM in the Nines final is given the Anthony Mundine medal.

NOW we’re starting to get serious lads!
These ideas, coupled with Fergus’ proposal of an automatic 8th spot for the 9s winner is really the shot in the arm the 9s tournament needs!

I don't particularly like 9's and don't really care how the Raiders go in it, but it's a nice preseason warmup for the fans.
All clubs should be required to field a minimum number of their top 30 squad, but beyond that I couldn't care less if there are some novelty selections or junior players representing each team.

I'd love to see George Negas rolled out for a gameNorthern Raider wrote:George?Bay53 wrote: ↑November 5, 2019, 8:19 am I am with the others who are not a big fan of the tournament. It provides some interest when Fittler played but I don’t think playing Negas or Jason Croker got anyone extra through the gate.
Potentially you could have a situation where the winner got two competition points and the runner up one.
That would give it some interest and something to play for.

Re: Perth Nines - Which Raiders legend would you like to see come back?
Can't we just get rid of the 13's game entirely?
Just wrap the entire NRL season up on a long weekend then we don't need bye rounds for the best of 15 Origin series

Interesting that some teams have announced some non squad players already, Brisbane bringing back Corey Park, Roosters bringing in a AFL player from their coaching staff in Nick Davis.
Wonder if we will hear something this week?
I saw an image of the Jersey before Christmas but wasnt allowed to take a photo of it, it’s not bad, it’s a simple but nice green jersey. I wonder when it will be released

The inclusion of retired players like Parker, aged 37, and much worse still, a 39 year old AFL player makes the competition a joke. The Roosters' announcement has seen the NRL Nines jump the shark.Brew wrote: ↑January 18, 2020, 2:59 pm Interesting that some teams have announced some non squad players already, Brisbane bringing back Corey Park, Roosters bringing in a AFL player from their coaching staff in Nick Davis.

The only way we can one up the Roosters here is to have a fan play. You've got two weeks to get in playing shape GE.

This is the latest pic I could find of Damon Booby... from a masters tournament in 2017. He’s on the left I believe. He looks fit. But I don’t think he will be playing Nines.

Kyrgios's preferred alternative sport is basketball, but it would certainly get up the Roosters fans' noses if he did play and someone came up with a sign saying "Kyrgios! And we're still under the cap".
If it's a former player, then either Tongue, Campo or Monaghan would work for me.

Nathan Lyon on the ding picking up a meat pie would be one the all time greatest things to watch.
He might be out of reach especially in actual cricket season, but that's the kind of thing that sells tickets

I'm with picking nick kyrious, a canberra boy and loves team sports. He could donate to charity too.
Seriously though how can a team be allowed to pick someone from another sport! Really makes a joke of it

Canberra Raiders fan petitions for Todd Carney return in NRL Nines... but it seems unlikely to get to first base
A Raiders fan has launched a petition to bring Carney out of retirement for the NRL Nines, which will be played in Perth on February 14.
More than 250 people have already pledged their support, but whether it gathers enough momentum to become a genuine option remains to be seen. Tim Gore of ABC radio however, has tweeted: There’s a petition circulating to let Todd Carney play for the @RaidersCanberra at the NRL Nines. It is not supported by the club at all.
