Terrible spine but there is enough around it to cause some problems if other teams are off their game.

Seriously, that's as ordinary a team as you'll ever see in the NRL. The good veterans are past their best and some of the younger players are out of their depth without support - especially the 6, 7 and 9.

That's pretty much how they were looked at when they were stringing wins together too. They won't make the 8 but they'll finish higher than their team on paper would suggest.

They've strung wins together at the back end of the last two seasons. Will be interesting to see if they can do it when it actually matters, at the start of the season.

Yeah their season will pretty much be set by that pre-origin period. If they somehow have a good start they'll be a pest. If they have the same bad start it'll be a repeat.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how they go after finishing 12th last season. They certainly lulled a few teams into a false sense of security after a 3-11 start to the season in 2019.

Bulldogs are like that rash you've been carrying your whole life.

It doesn't bother you, it's painless and non life threatening, but it won't go away.

Bottom 4 for me with GC, STG, NEW.

And you don't wanna show the missus?
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

I don't mind Canterbury. They have a dig and generally don't get blown off the park.

Not enough weapons to trouble the top teams though.

Mid table, missing the 8.

Canterbury Bulldogs call for review of rules after Kieran Foran salary cap appeal rejected

Canterbury CEO Andrew Hill has called for a review of the NRL’s compensation policy for players injured on representative duty after being informed the club's salary cap relief for Kieran Foran would be limited to $350,000.

Foran, whose contract is reportedly worth up to $1.2 million this year is expected to be sidelined for most of the season.

Read more: https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/01/24/bul ... -rejected/

It is the salary cap relief you have when you're not wanting to actually give any salary cap relief. They've got very good grounds for complaint.

Previous to the last Lions tour I thought he looked Britain's best prop, Burgii included.

I expect him to be a bit higher impact than a guy like Sutton. I think he'll go well.

Can't go too far wrong with those Pommy front rowers. Certainly a much better bet for success than the outside backs.

Pommy forwards have been generally good in the NRL.

The backs not so much, fingers crossed for GWilly.

I can't remember that fella we signed in 18?..Turnbuckle, Turnstyle, didntTurnup..

Yeah, pretty much didn't Turnup is it!

Since I've been following the game there have been heaps of Pommy props who are have been top shelf. Kevin Ward, Adrian Morley, Andy Platt, Burgess and Graham.

There have been a couple of duds though. From memory, Kelvin Skerrett wasn't that great with Wests in the 80's. Lee Crooks was pretty ordinary for Balmain, given his reputation.

Yeah, the backs are often a different kettle of fish though. Very hit and miss.

Do you remember Harvey Howard ?
He played for the Magpies..early 90s maybe.

Just to add more about English backs. Even Martin Offiah, Andy Currier, Shaun Edwards and Ellery Hanley had a stint. Of all them Hanley was supposedly the gun...

The rest stunk, but apparently Chariots could run fast.

For all the hype Hanley was avg as well..

Good signing but they’re still well and truly in the race for the spoon this season and no chance of the 8. I’d have the Titans and Dragons in the same boat. Dragons have a better squad but it’s on the downward slide across the board and that’s hard to halt.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Statement from Bulldogs Chief Executive Andrew Hill

Bulldogs Chief Executive Andrew Hill has released a statement in regard to the standing down of Jayden Okunbor and Corey Harawira-Naera.

Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor have been stood down by the Bulldogs after each was issued a show cause notice by the NRL as to why they shouldn’t face further disciplinary action for alleged breaches of the Game’s Code of Conduct

While neither player is the subject of a criminal investigation, the Club is treating the matter very seriously. The allegations are that each player engaged in behaviour that represents a serious breach of the NRL Rules and the Bulldogs’ Code of Conduct, resulting in the NRL notice.

team lists came out and those 2 were noticably absent. Now we know why.....kinda. Not sure why they maintain such a cloke of secresy over it. Only lets the rumour mill run wild.

The fact there are no real rumours with substance ( there is guessing) out is very interesting

I take my hat off to the dogs having no leaks

Also means what ever has happened is not involving the public

Harawira-Naera, Okunbor stood down by Canterbury Bulldogs

Bulldogs duo Jayden Okunbor and Corey Harawira-Naera have been stood down 48 hours before the NRL season opener over alleged "serious breach of the NRL rules".

Read more: https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/03/10/har ... -bulldogs/

According to NRL 360, the players had short term relationships with young women, young enough to still be attending school. No illegal conduct is alleged and no complaints have been made.

High school puts them in the 15 to 16 y/o range unless it's a joint high school/college.

Yeah... if you meet them at the school they go to, you can't really claim you didn't know they were that age...

Picking up girls on a team visit- I guess it isn't criminal but it's astoundingly seedy and unprofessional. They'd be sacked in all kinds of other jobs but I suspect they'll get away with a short suspension and some "education" and rehabilitation type deal. Over to you, ex Bulldog CEO Greenberg.
