Maybe I'm being gullible but I don't see the Raiders or Bulldogs poaching each other's players. Pay and Stuart have been mates for years, haven't they?

wouldnt shock me if they did have some kind of gentleman’s agreement

I’ve seen it said the raiders and Penrith had/have one regarding each other’s juniors?

I don't think it is a matter of poaching... more finding an outcome that benefits both clubs.

Based on Stuart's opinion and comments relating to Jack I can't see him ever agreeing to any arrangement where he goes to the Bulldogs. Stuart has been heavily involved in Jack's development.

Pig - I think Panthers also had an agreement with the Roosters about raiding juniors, at least while Gus was in charge there.

My comment is in relation to the possibility of Aidan Sezer heading to the Bulldogs. To be clear.

I'd be gobsmacked if Wighton signs for anyone else.

I'd also be gobsmacked if a club suddenly made him the comp's highest paid player at 20% above the next highest. Every club still has a salary cap to manage and Jack Wighton isn't single handedly making a **** club a contender.

He's not going anywhere and nor is John Bateman.
They're both getting the upgrades they want and in Jack's case, if that ends up at or over 1m, then so be it. Us fans can talk/debate/argue about that all we like, but Jack's not going anywhere

Probably. The Dragons are stupid enough to do something like that. Good example of the risks involved for a lowly placed team.

Canberra Raiders move to lock in Jack Wighton

The Canberra Raiders plan to meet NSW centre Jack Wighton's manager Matt Rose next week. Raiders chief executive Don Furner hoped he could lock in a number of their off-contract stars before their 2020 season kicks off.

"We want to work on all three of those guys and get them done before kick off - that's Jarrod, Jack and Nick, and some others too. They're all priorities.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Canberra Raiders' Jack Wighton puts 2019 behind him for State of Origin of success

Clive Churchill Medallist Jack Wighton will use the NSW Blues camp to put this year's State of Origin behind him and begin working towards winning the 2020 campaign.

"[The camp is] awesome. It's something that really brings us back together," Wighton said. "It's a long season and I'm really excited to see the boys. It's all about forgetting 2019.

In trying to make his name for himself as a player manager, he has hurt some of his players reputation amongst teammates. (Not Jack BTW).

He should be building a reputation as a manager of repute, instead of trying to squeeze out the last buck.

Benefit most?
Melboure - Nick Cotric: They need wingers now and he fits in with what Bellemy wants. Tough, smart and does what he's supposed to do defensively.

Knights - Jarrod Croker: They're centres are **** trash, unless this Bradman Best fella kicks on they've got a glaring hole on both edges, and if he does, just one. They need some strike and leadership.

Roosters - Jack Wighton: Like Cotric, it's the sort of player that Robinson would love to have to replace Latrell. Or maybe even in the halves with Keary if Kyle Flanagan doesnt pan out.

Target them? the same usually suspects with a bunch of space and looking to spend money. Titooons, Tigers, Rabbitohs, Eels...

Jack Wighton's agent kick starts negotiations with Canberra Raiders

Player agent Matt Rose was in Canberra on Sunday to kick start extension talks between Jack Wighton and the Raiders after meeting with Ricky Stuart and Don Furner for breakfast. Rose said he did not envisage any major delays given he and Canberra have Wighton’s welfare at heart.

“I know how important it is to have good players around the boys [Wighton and Cody Walker],” Rose said. “It is not really about searching, it is about where the boys will be happy.”

That actually sounds pretty positive. Saying it is important that there are good players around his clients... wants to do the deal with the Raiders, but if the money isn't right... there are options.
