It's refreshing to a see a couple of genuine tail enders at the crease. The cross bat paddle, edge over slips for a boundary is a rare thing these days.

No ball for sure imo. At least with neutral umpires the old fashioned 'home town' ump = "home town" advantage won't be thrown at them.
ABC radio were talking about bowlers being given some benefit of the doubt. I've not heard that one before - does anyone know anything about this new 'bowler benefit of the doubt' rule? If this is the first time it has been given a run, then it's a stinker and should be scrapped.

My understanding was that there needed to be a grounded part of the foot behind the line too, not just something in the air - much like grounding your bat.
So, I say no-ball also.

I've not seen any pic or video showing part of the foot behind the line. I'll judge it based on what I saw. It was a no ball.

Way too aggressive. Just leave those bad balls.yeh raiders wrote: ↑November 22, 2019, 10:10 am Burns with some silly cross bat crap to start his innings. Needs to wake up ASAP.
Reckon there's a few nerves there. Understandable given his checkered selection history. Has to put that out of his mind though.

Such a fluid action too. No reason he couldn't hurl them down over 150k. The real test will be if he can keep hitting 145 after 15+ oversyeh raiders wrote: ↑November 22, 2019, 10:47 am Imagine being 16 years old and bowling at 147km/h.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Yeah that’s true, let’s see how he gets on with fatigue.
He’s every chance of getting quicker up until at least his early 20s.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Considering the train wreck which was our opening batting in England to have 50+ on the board by the first session drinks break is a creditable start. Burns a little nervous early on but most openers are. Warner has had most of the strike but looks to be seeing the ball better than during the Ashes series. I am a fan of Burns as an opener - nothing flash but will go out and take some shine off the ball for the batsmen to follow. If he can have a career average around low 40s then he will do a similar job to a Michael Slater type. Not a Hayden or Warner but able to provide solid starts for his team.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Think the pattern is clear now. Home test = Warner 1st picked. Away test = leave him at home.

Home ground advantage was always going to play a role. That's why writing off the batting is not as black and white compared to england.

Re: The Cricket Thread
If Matt hasn't heard of it then the current Umps/commentators are making it up. My understanding is the same as yours Matt, some part of the boot has to be behind the crease as the boot makes contact with the ground, to be a fair delivery. Sure the boot can slide forward but as the bowler plants his foot some part of the boot must be behind the line. Every replay I've seen in the same as the photo's in this thread. The batsman should have been called back. This was an opportunity for Tim Paine to channel what Gilchrist would have done and call the batsman back. It would have put a stop to the Barmy Army chant during the last Ashes series of 'Same old Aussies, always cheating' because of sandpaper gate. If Tim Paine gets another opportunity I hope he puts Sportsmanship before unwarranted advantage.Matt wrote: ↑November 22, 2019, 7:41 am Thats what the the 3rd umpire passed onto the broadcasters after making the out call. Re: The Cricket Thread
Well I'm guessing another 200 today. Tommorrow(day3) I'm expecting the scoring rate to pick up. The deck is prime, and Smudge is in a mood.
We'll probably need a full day..maybe more to claim the 10 wickets..
These Pakis are stubborn though, and will fight.
