So Wayne Bennett brought George Williams out to New Zealand and Papua New Guinea and refused to select him for not a single game. Why did he bother bringing him out? It'll be the last Bennett sees of international coaching.

No place in Great Britain Lions squad for Leeds Rhinos' Ash Handley - after 10,000-mile trek

Great Britain coach Wayne Bennett has left Leeds Rhinos winger Ash Handley out of his 21-man squad for Saturday's Test in Papua New Guinea, despite the player travelling from the UK specifically for the game.

Handley, Rhinos' player of the year and joint-second top try scorer in Super League during 2019, flew out to join the Lions' camp last Friday, following a series of injuries in the backs.

Bennett has seriously lost the plot. By his own admission, the team has gone backwards with hastings at half, so after 3 losses on the trott, he sticks with the bloke. I cant help but feel its to spite us after stick schooled him in the prelim final

GWilly could have been back in ENG the past 3 weeks packing up his kit and saying goodbye. He could have been on deck in Canberra day 1 of preseason..ready to go.

Instead..he warms the pine for a month, still has to fly back home, pack his kit and fly back for a late preseason with the boys.

Disgusting Wayne...I HATE YOU !!

Canberra Raiders forward Elliott Whitehead delighted with welcome for Great Britain Lions to Papua New Guinea

Canberra Raiders forward Elliott Whitehead was delighted with the welcome for his Great Britain Lions to Papua New Guinea yesterday, and concedes the team now need to give something back on the field.

“It’s been great so far – the locals have made us feel really welcome. It’s going to be a great experience so we’re really looking forward to it.

“We’ve been disappointing and have probably let ourselves down, but we’ve got one more game to play and we want to get that win. We’ve got a lot to fix but I’m sure we’re capable of doing that.”

Great Britain Lions have let themselves down, says Canberra Raiders forward Elliott Whitehead

Elliott Whitehead says the Great Britain Lions have let themselves down. But he's hoping a rugby league-mad Papua New Guinea gives them a boost ahead of their final game.

"We have been disappointing and we've probably let ourselves down so we've got one more game to play and hopefully we can get that win," Whitehead said.

New Canberra Raiders recruit George Williams: I've finally got my Great Britain Lions chance

George Williams expects to get his big Great Britain chance on Saturday despite not being named in the first 17.

"It's been a long old tour and as professionals you want to play every game, it's not meant to be on this tour but I've got my chance now and hopefully I can take it," said the 25-year-old. "It'll be a proud day for me and my family. I was hoping it wouldn't slip out of my grasp this tour and luckily I've got a chance to do that."

Canberra Raiders lead Great Britain Lions' moving tribute for fallen PNG teammate Kato Ottio

The entire village of former PNG international Kato Ottio has turned out to welcome his old Raiders teammates and a Great Britain contingent as they paid their respects to the fallen Kumuls flyer.

"It was fantastic to see the young children and how excited they were to see us; Kato always had a big smile on his face and loved the game and you can still see that with those who are following in his footsteps," Josh Hodgson said. "Kato's mother gave us a warm welcome and I know this is something that will live with all of us for a long time."

Great Britain Lions hooker Josh Hodgson speaks about an "eye-opening" emotional visit to Canberra Raiders team mate's grave in Papua New Guinea

Canberra Raiders hooker Josh Hodgson admits he will “never forget” the touching experience of visiting the home of former team-mate Kato Ottio in Papua New Guinea.

“Obviously we wish we were going in different circumstances and it wasn’t to pay tribute to a friend. It really took you back on just how many people and lives Kato touched and what he meant to the community there.

Great Britain Lions kick off... we are underway! And James Graham in massive trouble, trying to tackle Luke Page. Head in the wrong place. He won't continue, or shouldn't.

14th min TRY GREAT BRITAIN to Blake Austin in the corner. He was taken over the corner post shortly before, but couldn't be denied this time. Papua New Guinea had the better of the opening stages, but possession and territory set up that try for the Lions. Gareth Widdop misses the goal from the sideline.

22nd min TRY GREAT BRITAIN to Josh Hodgson. He runs from dummy half, from eight metres out, and catches the Kumuls off guard. He just crashes over! Converted Widdop.

40th min TRY PAPUA NEW GUINEA to Edwin Ipape! He went straight down the middle from 60 metres out, running from dummy half. Elliott Whitehead missed the tackle initially and Blake Austin couldn't catch him. Converted Martin.

Josh Hodgson leading the Great Britain team back out for the second half. Taken over the captaincy from James Graham. Graham will definitely not be back. Now here comes PNG. That was pretty poor defensive work from Great Britain to let in that try just before the break.

The Kumuls kick off to start the second half.

47th min TRY PAPUA NEW GUINEA to Watson Boas off a Gebbie grubber kick. Incredible kick from and chase and it is grounded just inside the dead ball line. This has the smell of an upset at the moment. Martin converts. Boas went to the fence and was hugged by a thousand fans all at once!

52nd min TRY PAPUA NEW GUINEA to Justin Olam. This is INCREDIBLE, it is another kick and chase and the video referee says it's all good! It ricochets off a Great Britain player. Martin converts from close to the posts. The crowd is singing now1

57th min TRY PAPUA NEW GUINEA in the corner to Alex Johnston. THIS IS INCREDIBLE! They're going to video. It was kicked ahead, the Kumuls pick up the loose ball and send it wide! THIS IS AMAZING! It is a TRY! Martin unable to convert from the sideline.
