Brett Finch attends mental health facility
Former NSW State of Origin star turned media identity Brett Finch has checked in to a mental health facility after suffering a medical incident on board a flight to Sydney.
A passenger told the newspaper Finch "looked like he couldn't bring himself to get off the plane. White as a ghost, couldn't control his runny nose and (appeared) paranoid.

A huge amount of sympathy and support for Mr Finch on Twitter and a lot of outrage about the picture being published. I also hope he gets the help he needs. I’ve always thought it disgraceful the way he and Fletcher joke about benders and glorify drug use. I hope that stops! I hope Brett finds a happy healthy live away from the public eye.

That show is full of awful stuff... so don’t expect it will stop.

Re: Ex Raiders... where are they now?
i have felt awful for Finch all of today, seriously why did that photo need to be even taken let alone published?
If that was Greg Inglis on the plane in the same situation I highly doubt the photo would have been published.
I hope everyone leaves him alone and he gets the help and peace he needs

I feel sorry for Brett Finch. Shouldn’t have to put up with that.
He does bring a lot of stuff on himself however. In all honesty he also puts a lot of crap on other people in both a joking or serious way. He can’t have it both ways.
He’s long overdue for taking an honest look at himself and how he projects his personality.

If you’re saying they wouldn’t have shown a photo of Inglis because he’s aboriginal, then history shows the media hasn’t held back on showing pictures of someone just because their aboriginal. But maybe you mean something else?cat wrote:i have felt awful for Finch all of today, seriously why did that photo need to be even taken let alone published?

Although the Inglis drink driving issue got a lot of media publicity.

I mean there are certain players ( nothing to do with the colour of their skin) who are protected species, only 1/3 of the drink driving stuff came out in relation to Inglis and no photos.BJ wrote: ↑October 25, 2019, 9:55 pmIf you’re saying they wouldn’t have shown a photo of Inglis because he’s aboriginal, then history shows the media hasn’t held back on showing pictures of someone just because their aboriginal. The tone of the articles are different too, more supportive, where that was really degenerative .

Re: Ex Raiders... where are they now?
For many years Finch has spoken with great pride about his partying lifestyle. I’ve always considered it very irresponsible for media personalities like him and Fletcher to glorify these things. Given the potential for him to influence others and normalise this kind of behaviour, I don’t have a problem with a picture of him being published that demonstrates it’s not as sexy a lifestyle as he makes out. I hope he gets his life together and I hope others learn from his experience.

Wests Tigers eye Brisbane Broncos half Anthony Milford
Wests Tigers could make an immediate play for Anthony Milford, if Brisbane are prepared to release their marquee man, as the joint-venture outfit looks to spend a $1.7 million war chest.
Milford is contracted until the end of 2020, with an option in the playmaker’s favour. However, Milford hasn’t consistently lived up to his $1 million-a-season tag.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Re: Ex Raiders... where are they now?
Ugh... I am so angry at the Broncos for what they did to Anthony Milford
SO **** angry.
I hope he gets out and i hope he gets away from the robotic Bull that club has insisted on him being... I wouldnt do it because i think the deal we've got CNK on is a **** bargain and i think he's a hell of a player who suits what this club is trying to build, and he's got a hell of a lot of upside himself, but a peak Anthony Milford, and the creativity he brings to a team if he's allowed to play footy, that would be a fun thing to add to this footy team

Re: Ex Raiders... where are they now?
Milford's try where he just burned Robert Lui for us was breathtaking.
The Broncos took him and James Roberts, the 2 most exciting players in the game and made them boring.

That seems to be what Wayne Bennett does. The best thing Great Britain and England could do is sack him as soon as they can. I don't think he will last much longer in the NRL.

Re: Ex Raiders... where are they now?
Wayne Bennett needs one or two brilliant attacking players in his team to capitalise on a platform set by the rest of the team. It all falls apart when the other 11 or 12 guys don't do their job - especially in defence. He is obviously very good at bringing veteran players together, but is very ordinary at developing youngsters.
Prior to his stint with the Dragons he obviously coached a stacked squad with the Broncos. With the Dragons he had Soward and Boyd tearing it up, while the rest of the squad was rock solid. When Newcastle scraped into the finals in 2013 he had Boyd and Leilua providing flair and a pretty experienced forward pack (incl Mason, Scott, Jeremy Smith, Buderus etc). When he returned to Brisbane he obviously had a pretty handy squad of 10 or 11 internationals around Milford and Hunt. This year he did pretty well with Souths - but was again very boring to watch unless Cody Walker or Damian Cook had a decent game.
I don't think he can coach or develop talent. He just brings it in and tries to surround it with a solid platform built by an experienced forward pack. Next year he will likely struggle without Burgess and a 5/8 that has been inconsistent his entire career.
The Dragons, Knights and Broncos clearly all went into a tailspin after he departed. Looking at their squad, Souths are on the verge of doing the same after a reasonably successful year.

Re: Ex Raiders... where are they now?
Waynes there because he brings success fairly early. He brings sponsors, supporters and interest. All intangibles.
But he's unimaginative, and has a very dull playing style.
For a man who attracts so much interest and expectations,He's past it.

More than handy I reckon. Was a player I really enjoyed watching.

Re: Ex Raiders... where are they now?
I think he'd be a handy pickup to fill-out our squad if close to minimum wage. I could really see Brenko going well in our current systems and set-up on the wing, or even filling in at centre if required.
