May Anthoine Hubert rest in peace. He was only 22, had won two races this season and had several offers from the better F2 teams for next year.

The other F2 race this weekend was cancelled and they will have a minute's silence ahead of the GP tonight.

A stark reminder that motorsport can never truely be safe. I usually dont watch F2, but found myself watching that race. It was quite confronting when i realised i had just watched a man die. He was a great talent and a loss for the future.

But as is custom in motorsport, the show must go on. Daniel Ricciardo said he almost didnt race on sunday, and im glad he did. When a driver starts feeling his mortality then hes one step permanently out of the car.

Watching Charles Leclerc win and win convincingly reminded me that the generation shift is on. The young drivers are here and are making their presence known. Its a joy to know that when Hamilton goes (and i suppose Vettel too) that the sport is in great hands.

Le Clerc winning on Sunday had a similar feeling to Lowndes winning Bathurst after Peter Brock died. It was the only appropriate result, the sort of moment where you feel maybe, just maybe, there could be some higher power taking a hand in things.

Motorsport-wise, anyway.

Yeah terrible stuff.

From the footage I saw it didnt look like simple leg fractures - Im not surprised there were ongoing complications.

Kelly Racing moving to Mustangs in 2020

The whole car of the future plan has been a flop, seeing Mercedes AMG, Nissan and Volvo all pulled their factory backing in less than 5 years

Yeap. Back to where we started but worse.

3 years ago the talk was COTF Camaro v Mustang v GTR v C63 but all the manufacturers pulled out.

Now we have a **** ugly Opel Insignia v a Mustang "special" that looks like a pregnant rice bubble.

V8 Supercars has the best batch of drivers outside of F1 and Indycar and they still manage to **** it up.

GRM have announced they’re leaving the sport, and I’m gutted.

I’ve been following these misfits since the Tander/Bargwanna days. Back in 99, when I was 15, my old man took me to Wakefield Park to see them run Leanne Tander in the Development series. We bought a GRM Supporters shirt, and I thought I’d try my luck and see where I could go if I tried to blend in.

I got into pit lane, and got up to Leannes car, in the old Valvoline paint scheme. I didn’t think I was going to get that far, so I didn’t have a plan on what to do, so I grabbed a cloth and a bucket of water and started cleaning the car.

A few minutes in I heard “What the **** are you doing here?” I turned around, and it was Gary. I stammered, trying to make up something. He just laughed and said “Mate, I think you need to get outta here.” So I ran.

Vale GRM

GRM are not dead, I'm like you Fui, GRM saved my supercars supporting after Brock retired.
S5000 and TCR will get my attention next year, BJR for Bathurst only.
GRM will 've back in 2021 or wildcards in 2020 I think

I’m with you S5000 has really caught my attention. I was thinking it would just be another Formula Holden type series, but it’s looking like it could be a right proper series to follow.

TCR I can see getting bigger as well. I’d like to see GRM back. I’m not sure if they leased out their RECs or sold them completely. Might be harder to make a comeback if they sold them.

The new Holden arrangement didn’t suit them. They probably would have been better off to follow the Kelly’s to Mustang

Yeah it’s true, but Ford would have allowed them to actually build parts, rather than buying off T8.
I’m not sure who I’d support now. Kelly’s were my 2nd choice because of the Nissan connection... need to follow a new team now

Word has it that they sold one or handed it back but the other REC has been leased to MSR for them to run their second car.

Hopefully we see some rule changes and get to see a revitalised GRM with Valvoline backing again once more. One of my all time V8 Supercars memories was that year everyone had switched to the VT commodores and Tander was ripping it up in the VS.

Without doubt. Speedcafe were doing a poll on the best driver not to win a championship. Dan Gurney would come close, but I think I have DG bias on account of being a fan.

The poll lost me when I saw Mark Webber mentioned
