Prop of the year: Shannon Boyd.
If he comes up I’m gonna be a very rich man. Who would have thought I could turn that dollar into a million?

Re: 2019 Dally M Awards
Bateman would have to be the red hot favourite for 2nd rower of the year but with positions being based on points now I think we may struggle outside that. Papa was the best prop but Haas will probably get it.
Ricky would deserve coach of the year after last week but Bellamy should get it since it's based on the regular season.

Re: 2019 Dally M Awards
Bateman should be a shoe in. Papa and maybe Wighton chances in their positions. I wouldn’t rule Hodgson out for Hooker.
Re: 2019 Dally M Awards
Hodgson won’t get hooker. Either Smith or Cook. Probably Cook cause I think they count Origin.
Bateman a chance. Papalli should be the shoe in for mine.
Re: 2019 Dally M Awards
Bateman is paying $1.04 on sportsbet

Bateman, papa and maybe Stuart are the only ones I think we are a chance, bateman shoe-in.

How many games did Bateman miss? That may be the only thing against him winning

Re: 2019 Dally M Awards
Papa was the best prop imo. More consistent than Haas and had just as much impact.
Cook probably shades Hodgo for hooker. He was sensational for large parts of the year + origin went well. Both have had flat spots in their year but teams were terrified of Cook for a while there. He is eye catching whereas Hodgo is a slow burn with the odd brilliant spark when at his best- which he wasn't really at for much of the year.

Haas' advantage is that he was playing in an underperforming team. Papa had to split votes with a whole heap of othersBadnMean wrote:Papa was the best prop imo. More consistent than Haas and had just as much impact.

Re: 2019 Dally M Awards
Haas is $1.10 fav for Prop. I'd still rate Paps and Klemmer ahead of him right now. Haas does some spectacular stuff but he gets caught out a lot defensively in the middle compared to the other 2. I expect him to improve in that area simply through experience at NRL level.

That is what was suggested earlier in the thread. The alternative saw a player rank highly in the actual Dally M, but not win their position award. Both ways have some pretty big flaws. The Rickman wrote:Are positions done on votes now?? That's such a dumb system.

The broncs are running him into the ground with those 80mins each game. No middle should ever be playing 80mins. Especially at that age every week. Bring him off 10mins before (or at) half time and give him a 20min break.

So is he any good or not?? I'm so confused. On one hand, I've got my own judgment that thinks he's a good player, we've got awards such as this and the fact he's breaking all sorts of records at the club.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑September 19, 2019, 4:28 pmExactly! I guess the proof will be in the pudding - If he puts in a reasonable effort the next 2 games and gets to lift the premiership trophy that will say more than any individual records or popularity polls. The Rickman wrote: ↑September 19, 2019, 4:35 pmSo is he any good or not?? He got walked over in the second half last week by a guy half the size of Conrad Hurrell and didn’t cover himself in glory with the kicking tee.
I’m don’t care much for individual accolades in comparison to the prospects of a premiership. I just hope your boy JC can hold it together and doesn’t have a brain snap in defence that cost the season. The stats clearly show he is our biggest defensive liability so it’s a very legitimate concern.

I'm as concerned as the next person about Toots' goal kicking last weekend, but I'll be cheering my lungs out when he kicks them next weekend.Billy Walker wrote: ↑September 19, 2019, 4:53 pmI guess the proof will be in the pudding - If he puts in a reasonable effort the next 2 games and gets to lift the premiership trophy that will say more than any individual records or popularity polls. The Rickman wrote: ↑September 19, 2019, 4:35 pmSo is he any good or not?? I'm not sure what the stats show, but if Croker is our biggest defensive liability, then it definitely explains why Melbourne only scored one try last weekend, and that was off a kick. I'm not wasting any more time on this topic.

As much as Sticky is in the frame, a coach that wins the minor Premiership by 6 points is just exceptional.

Canberra Raiders forward Sia Soliola one of four finalists for 2019 Ken Stephen Medal
Sia Soliola (Raiders), Corey Norman (Dragons), Agnatius Paasi (Warriors) and Josh Aloiai (Tigers) have been announced as the four finalists vying for this year’s Ken Stephen Medal.
Sia, Agnatius and Josh were confirmed as finalists by a panel of judges from across the game, whilst Corey was selected via an NRL.com fan poll.
NRL Head of Government and Community Relations, Jaymes Boland-Rudder congratulated the finalists on an outstanding year off the field, contributing to various community programs.
“Our four finalists – and all of our nominees – have chosen different community activities to engage in and support throughout the year and they should all feel very proud of their efforts to increase positive community interaction and engagement,” Mr Boland-Rudder said.
“Our players join thousands of coaches, administrators, referees and volunteers each year in supporting a multitude of community and wellbeing programs, utilising rugby league’s voice for good.
“A sense of community and inclusiveness is at the core of our game and I’m delighted to see some of the NRL’s biggest names nominated as finalists for this year’s Ken Stephen Medal.”
The 2019 Ken Stephen Medal will be awarded and celebrated on Grand Final day, ahead of the NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final.
This year marks the 31st occasion for the Ken Stephen Medal – an award recognising the efforts of an NRL player who has not only achieved on the field, but has committed time off the field to community projects.

Far out we've missed Jordan Rapana in peak form this season. It's amazing how much he added to our attack over the previous 3 seasons
