Petition: Take the Horn to ANZ Stadium

Post by Sid »

Okay so I don’t have an actual petition for everyone to sign, but if someone could get this going it would be very much appreciated

I know it’s not our home ground but I feel
the presence of the Horn at the grand final would make it a better game day experience for everyone
Would have won Boogs - 2016, 2017, 2018

As we've discovered, it depends who blows it
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

I’d just be concerned that the NRL would take over use of the Horn and someone like Frankie J Holden or Timoatic or some D Grade celeb plugging a musical will blow it

David Riccio just said on radio The Continuous Call Team that it's in the works for the horn to be at the GF and for Mal to blow it.

~25,000 fans viking clapped last night was insane, 40,000+ doing it next Sunday would be next level.

It's confirmed now, Big Mal will give the horn a mighty blow and guide our boys to the promised land

Raiders legend Mal Meninga to blow Viking horn on Grand Final day

The last man to captain Canberra to a premiership will blow the Viking horn at ANZ Stadium on grand final day. Raiders legend Mal Meninga has been confirmed as the man to do the duties when the club plays its first competition decider in 25 years on Sunday week.

The club confirmed the now-famous horn will be packed up and transported from its home at GIO Stadium in the nation’s capital.

Most effective petition ever. Didn't even need to exist, let alone be submitted to anyone.

Fitting picks to blow the horn.

Pick Dean Lance for a game that's hard as ****, nothing but pure guts and grit.

Pick Big Mal to hopefully see us through to the end and lift that trophy next Sunday night.

I just saw a petition with "Dugan blows" in the heading and I immediately signed it.

If anyone is wondering whether I’m claiming any credit for this movement having not created the petition, not raising the question to any officials or not even contributing to the thread again between creating it and getting the result.. well of course I **** am. (Though some credit goes to others for suggesting Mal blows it and for throwing your support behind the movement I guess so thank you to all involved)

I can’t wait to watch replays of the 2019 Raiders grand final win in the future with my grandkids, point to the moment where Mal blows the horn and tell them the tale of how quickly this movement gained so much momentum it could be ignored no longer

Yeah, the execution of the viking clap for a large crowd like that could definitely be improved.

I reckon it was a simple issue with the microphone. I doubt it would happen again.

We would have been fine if the drums were mic'd properly. Classic NRL.

That said, I hope that the Raiders put out a Viking Clap tutorial or suchlike, so that the bandwagoners know how to do it properly.

I like it Sid - you sound like me, an ideas man! Not big on the follow through but always keen to throw ideas out there. I don’t care what plan Raiders HQ or the NRL may or may not have had, as far as I’m concerned this one was all you! 😁

The petition that everybody was too lazy to set up is the only successful one I have ever seen.
