I discovered the reason for our poor home form this year
I have been trying to figure out why our home form hasn't been great this year, despite our fantastic season.
Using a series of complicated mathematical formulas I have unearthed the simple reason.
I call it ... the Viking Ambassador Theory.
2019 Viking Ambassadors
Round Two: Chris Houghton (Raider #95) - LOSS (I'm sure GE remembers him but does anyone else? I looked it up and he's played 17 games!!!)
Round Three: Chris O’Sullivan (Raider #24) - WIN (Club legend)
Round Five: Matthew Corkery (Raider #57) - WIN (Club legend and an awesome name .. Corkery!!!)
Round Six: Phil Small (ACT Broadcaster) - WIN (Been a pioneer of Raiders coverage for many years, makes sense)
Round Eight: David Barnhill (Raider #111) - WIN (Club legend and tough as nails)
Round 10: Troy Thompson (Raider #229) - LOSS (We all love Thommo as a larrikan, but let's be real, we were never gonna win a premiership with Troy Thompson as our best prop at one point)
Round 11: Ken Nagas (Raider #146) - LOSS (OK this is the only one that goes against my theory but 1 out of 12 ain't bad)
Round 14: Paul Martin (Raider #79) - WIN (Great player, very underrated)
Round 18: Steve Jackson (Raider #89) - WIN (Duh... will go down in Raiders forklore)
Round 21: Matt Gafa (Raider #182) - LOSS (.................really?)
Round 23: Malcolm Johnston (Australian Jockey) - LOSS (GE was more deserving of this spot!)
Round 24: Glen Buttriss (Raider #277) - LOSS (Great guy again, but still can't believe he was our starting hooker for so long)
So there you have it. It's pretty clear that when the club have legitimate Raiders legends, the team wins.
And when you have numpties doing what they do best (blowing), then we lose.
Let's just hope that the club isn't trotting Jason Bulgarelli out on Friday night...
(P.S - Calm down GE... just bored at work at the start of a very long week until Friday...)

Re: I discovered the reason for our poor home form this year
To be fair, when I saw Buttriss was blowing the horn for the Warriors game I knew we were going to lose.
Don't get me wrong, great guy, would love to hit the bar and the all-you-can-eat seafood buffet with Glenny B, but his track record involving all things raiders-related speaks for itself.

Clearly, we need GE skydiving out of his helicopter, cats strapped to his back, to land right at the spot and blow the horn right on time. Now that's entertainment!
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

If Fergus isn't blowing the horn for this game I say we riot.

In all seriousness, has it been announced who is doing Friday?
Or maybe I don't want to know...
Re: I discovered the reason for our poor home form this year
I thought it was Dean Lance? I think he'd be a good choice if it is the case.
Where they really lost the plot was with the Manly game - gave it to some numpty who wasn't even a Raiders fan on the back of a bet!

If it's Dean Lance then we've got this. EXACTLY the style of game we need for a home prelim final.

With a board member or a prominent figure somehow related to the Raiders as I recall. That was a low point.badonkadonk wrote: ↑September 23, 2019, 1:08 pmThat was over a bet???? With who? Sticky? Makes sense though as Malcolm Johnston is a life long Manly fan....
Re: I discovered the reason for our poor home form this year
Dean Lance is the perfect choice! Living proof that old fashioned tackling can still stop offloads!
Re: I discovered the reason for our poor home form this year
By the way, all those players who have been mentioned are good players who’ve tried their hearts out for the Raiders.

I knew you would say that.
This was me being bored and tongue in cheek more than anything (but to be fair you can't argue with the results........)
Re: I discovered the reason for our poor home form this year
A few seasons ago if I recall correctly the team stayed at Hotels even for home games to try and replicate the bonding on tours.. I wonder if and when that stopped

Re: I discovered the reason for our poor home form this year
The Raiders have never lost a game when I’ve blown the horn.
I’ll give Ricky this evening to reconsider, but I expect to hear I’m needed tomorrow.

Might see Sia, Papa and Jack put a few of those Bunnies in the 10th row.

I thought it was me being at the game that tipped things towards a loss.
Good news: I won't be at the game or watching it in a club. At home, riding the couch all the way instead.
