Don't think he'll make it, but he'd be in for Guler

Fair enough hopefully he’s good to go. Adds a bit of starch.

Re: 2019 Finals Week 1 vs Storm: Teams and Previews
The obvious side, with Tapine over Sutton and Guler over Lui. I'm on the fence about Havilli Vs Simo, I think Havilli may make more sense against the Storm.

So how does it work;
Win and we get the week off
Lose and do we play the winner of 5/8 or 6/7?
At the moment, I would prefer the winner of Eels/Sharks over Manly/Brisbane

Looked like a dislocated patella they'd popped back in by the way they were testing the knee and the taping of it. I've known that to happen and blokes be right to play the next week. Just guessing but there's a bit of hope.

I've got Lui playing the least minutes after that effort. He's forgetting his role and playing beyond his actual skill level. Refs aren't going to let him get a strip even if he was good enough- subjective calls go to the big names. Run hard, hit hard, stay in your lane.
Tossed up between Sia and Hors off the bench. Ultimately I want Sia's line speed leading us off and setting a tone, give it everything. Hors can rip in after 20 minutes and get a good stint. He seems the type who'd have his eyeballs rolling around in his head if he started in his first final and could lose it a bit.

Our home form is abominable. I'm more confident of us putting in a strong performance away from home.

Pumped for it.
Full strength team, tough game against the best and most consistent side in the comp... we can do them.
Ignore the muck, play footy, be prepared to play for a full 80 minutes and defend the line for the full 80. We can do this. We must do this. We will do this. Go Raiders

You'd say they'd play Friday, the Cats on Saturday
You'd want to go up against the Cats game as it would be bedlam up against a Richmond game.

I would have said BJ wasn’t coming back this year if Cotric hadn’t play like a total spud at centre.
Simmonsen tried too hard today and overplayed his hand a bit but hard not to like what he’s throwing up. I wouldn’t be outraged if he started on a wing but it would be a huge call.

Re: 2019 Finals Week 1 vs Storm: Teams and Previews
I can't see us winning this at the moment, it's gonna be bloody tough. The way to beat them in any high stakes game is to blitz them in the first 20 in order to throw them right off; coming out like we did last game will almost certainly end in a loss.
Storm are a different beast in the finals and you generally can't get away with doing them same thing to them twice in a season - as the Sea Eagles most recently found out.
Fingers crossed but I'm preparing to come down to Canberra for the second week.

Re: 2019 Finals Week 1 vs Storm: Teams and Previews
I agree. They have an exceptional record in finals (probably because they play so many down there). They'll be ready for us big time and our execution the last few weeks has been off - we'll need to play 80 minutes of excellent football and we haven't done it recently so I think the lack of confidence is understandable. Still, very happy to be surprised.afgtnk wrote: ↑September 7, 2019, 8:43 pm I can't see us winning this at the moment, it's gonna be bloody tough. My concern is that if we play at home week 2, we may get bundled out - we are bloody awful at home this year. Week 3 prelim in Canberra, may well be a different beast.

Re: 2019 Finals Week 1 vs Storm: Teams and Previews
We'll be underdogs, and probably pretty heavy ones. And rightfully so.
But i really think the biggest difference in this squad from this year to last is the defensive starch and attitude that John Bateman and CNK have brought to the squad. They werent there today, the club didnt value thios game and the playing group responded in kind
I think this game will be valued and i think we'll put in an effort the fans can be really proud of and whether we take our chances, and execute at the level we need to in order to win the game... that'll be what decides it. But we wont be expected or picked to win this game by anyone outside the fanbase and probably not even half of those in the fanbase.

I want to jump on the anti Lui wagon because i've never really rated him and always feel like we'd like to do better than him... his one on one stripping stuff is off the charts and needs to stop immediately
But you have to put long held views aside, and he's played well enough this year to get a pass on one really bad game.
